Code: Revelation by Boris Sanders is a sci-fi/fantasy novel. It is a dystopian story that focuses on Max, a computer genius who hates his boss, and Lucy, an alien trapped in a glass. They depend on each other for things only the other can provide. For Max, it was a way out from under his lazy, self-serving boss and poverty. Lucy, on the other hand, claimed all she wanted was for the world to be better. Together, they come up with several elaborate schemes which had mixed results.

What I liked most about the story was how very unique it was, and I can't say I have ever come across one like this. I have encountered dystopian societies, but none quite like this one. The city is built vertically, and the level you live at dictates your social and financial standing. It is a futuristic society and many of the things people of old used to enjoy, no longer exist, such as rivers and seas.

What I disliked most was that it was too abrupt in some places, which affected the flow of the story. The transitions were not always smooth, and it caused me to recheck pages from the previous chapter to make sure I didn't miss anything. For example, the author went straight from a scene about a break-in, directly into the scene about what happened hours after the break-in. There was not even a paragraph explaining what happened in between. I was very annoyed as this happened several times.

It read like a book for teens/ young adults and not a more mature audience. While this was a noteworthy point for me, that in itself did not take away from the story. I do have to say the main character lacked some qualities that could have made his character stronger. He was a little bit too weak and naive for what the storyline asked for. The story ended very abruptly, and I was quite surprised. However, it was still entertaining and different, and I am curious to see what will happen in the next one.

I didn't notice any errors or typos when reading. However, I cannot give it more than 3 out of 4 stars because of the issues I had. It had a lot of potential; however, it fell a little short of the mark. I would recommend this book to teens and people who love reading books for young adults.

Wow that sounds really interesting! I have never heard about a city being built vertically but it could be a very real possibility in our future! Thanks for the wonderful review!

I hate abrupt endings, but this sounds like an interesting book with some fun ideas.

Code:Revelation sounds like an interesting and intriguing story. And I do truly love a dystopian tale. It's always fascinating to discover what another's idea of society/community building will be.
It sounds like a story right up my alley. Thanks for the time and effort you've taken to do this review. I deeply appreciate it.
Sincerely, Laura-Lee

I only hate abrupt endings when it 's because there are more in a series and I DON'T OWN THEM YET!!! I'm GOING TO HOLD MY BREATH UNTIL I TURN BLUE!!! WAH!!!!!

Enough of a tantrum yet? 😋😉

The societal structure reminds me of stuff like Avatar: The Last Airbender and Kill La Kill, both of which had societies like that. It seems interesting but with books more geared to the YA crowd, I think I might prefer a stronger protagonist.
