In the second installment of the Voulhire series comes The Fires of Virko. If you have not read the first book: A New Arrival under Great Skies, I suggest you do so before you read this one as it would be hard to understand how everything ties together. Virko- a city filled with great economical and technological advances, more than any other city of its kind in Soulhire, is the setting of this amazing book filled with drama, excitement and suspense. The Lord of this powerful land Venden, wants the power that rules over the city to be changed from noble sovereignty to capitalism while also battling with his health as time seems to not be on his side. What begins as innocent conjuring for the future seems to sidestep into the fight for ultimate control and power, in a City that is ever changing.

Galen continues in his journey of discovery, this time being led by the Mayor of Magnum Caulum to the City of Virko while still in the company of his two companions. His journey leads to unthinkable discoveries that just might be bigger than he or his friends thought. The city of Virko is a powerhouse and so are its residents, who strive for power and could change their lives and those that reside in Virko.

This book is amazingly written and carefully edited. The author Matthew Tysz, has taken time to ensure that the errors that were seen in the first book did not make an appearance in this book. The story lines and the characters that you are introduced to us make it a more fascinating book to read, it's also a continuation of the plot from the first book. In most books one can easily predict what happens but in The Fires Of Virko it is hard to predict what happens, who is good and who is bad, what's right and what's wrong. It is wonderfully unpredictable.

I rate The Fires of Virko a 4 out of 4 stars , for everything that I complained about in the first installment, I praise in this one, from editing to style to all out writing. I commend the Author for this work of art that has to be celebrated for its sheer intricacies. All it does is keep you at the edge of your seat, no pun intended. But seriously, this is a must read.

I would recommend this book to all those who love adventure and suspense, it is a fantasy type book but many genres are explored and all those interested should give it a read. I must say there are one or two scenes that might be deemed horrific for others, so reader discretion is advised.
