Mayor of PØmpington: Contesting Aliens by Dr. HB Paksoy is the third book in his series: The Mayor. The book is relatively short (slightly above 100 pages). It follows the story of The Mayor. He has a special ability to receive communication from aliens, which drives the plot of the book.

When the curtains of the first chapter open, The Mayor, who is in a chemically induced coma, comes into view. While in comatose he dreams about his wife (who is already dead). After his wife disappears (in the dream), “A stout and low frequency voice” takes control of his mind intending to use him to deliver a certain message on behalf of ‘the voice’. As soon as ‘the voice’ dropped the message on his mind, The Mayor woke up and was back to his senses. What did ‘the voice’ want him to do? Could he ever understand the true identity of ‘the voice’? How would life be knowing that a certain entity (that he didn’t know) was always watching and controlling the outcome of everything in his life? What would happen if he chose to disobey ‘the voice’?

In all the books in this series, “Dr. Paksoy is telling a beautiful lady a story to help her fall asleep.” In my opinion, Mayor of PØmpington: Contesting Aliens would never make any beautiful lady fall asleep (or any other lady for that matter), and if it did, that beautiful lady would have nightmares throughout her sleep. The Mayor, the main character of the book, traverses different countries while performing his duties as a military man and as a messenger of ‘the voice’. He is constantly on the lookout for assassins, and he cannot have a normal life because the aliens have somehow managed to take over his life, something that he cannot understand. Every time he is just about to encounter the proverbial light at the end of the tunnel, something cuts short his hope for a happy life, leaving him devastated. For instance, after the death of his wife, he came across a beautiful lieutenant during one of his missions to France (the agency he worked for at that time was based in Geneva). While the lieutenant made him happy, something happened that left his soul broken. Did the aliens (‘the voice’) have a hand in making his life miserable? He also did his job exceptionally well, something that helped him garner many promotions. Did the aliens have a hand in his exceptional skills too? This book can be read as a stand-alone.

I loved the themes that the author brought out in this book. They include military intelligence, how to uncover moles within a government agency, the relationship between human intelligence and the higher power (in this case the aliens/’the voice’), patriotism, and courage. The theme of the relationship between human intelligence and ‘the voice’ came out strongly in the book. This left me thinking: “What if the things that many governments have invested billions of dollars and great personnel to prevent them from happening are bound to happen anyway, and there is nothing that can be done about it?” and “Can human beings ever understand the working of a higher power, a power they can never control or fully comprehend?” Without a doubt, this book will get you thinking too.

I noted several grammatical errors in this book that forced me to knock out a star, settling for 3 out of 4 stars. The only thing that I disliked about it was the presence of explicit sex scenes, which I felt were unnecessary. If you don’t mind them and you love to read books with a fine touch of mystery, action, and military intelligence, then this book is for you. It lies in the adults-only zone and has no profanity.

This book seems like a whirlwind of mystery, action, and existential questions. The Mayor's struggle with 'the voice' and its control over his life adds a layer of intrigue, while the themes of military intelligence and higher powers make it thought-provoking. Congrats!

I was a tad confused regarding the storyline of this book, but all was made clear after I read the review, thank you. I noticed there was sexual activity almost at the beginning so not a book for the very young.

The theory of this book seem really interesting, they have been taken with different periods in the history, the questions that book answers really open new world for humman history, you will travel with author to anthers world that seem interesting to discover, but you must be aware that not all aligns are good,happy read

Mayor of PØmpington: Contesting Aliens by Dr. HB Paksoy is a thought-provoking blend of mystery, military intelligence, and higher power concepts. The plot’s unpredictability and deep themes are engaging, though the explicit scenes feel unnecessary. It offers a captivating, introspective experience for mature readers.

The book was scattered for me. Although the author touched on several subjects, from the intrigue and mystery of espionage, sex, panic, and the elusive subject of aliens. The book is short and covers all the mystic of outer planet aliens and the question of knowing God. The review was interesting and did lend more understanding to the book. If the technology of outer planet aliens is superior to earthly humans, then one would suspect there would be no need for an IV.

It is scary to think of aliens controlling the minds of those in higher power and the military, much less everyone else. Thank you for your informative review.

It might be such an interesting story to hear but the negative fact of it, it is to mention aliens in different meanings. Also, we have to figure out how everybody might consider the story because as for me, the Aliens don't just exist and our governments don't really need to investi budgets about them.

They should though get focused on other things such as standing up for racism and improving people's lives.

The author shouldn't even take time writing this out, because all the scenes sound to be not important.

I a glad that the book comprises a lot of thought-provoking themes, including the question of whether humans can comprehend a higher power. The question still in my mind is whether The Mayor will obey every command from the voice and what will, indeed, happen if he disobeys. This was a wonderful rhetorical question.

Today's BOTD is Book 3 in the series that follows the Mayor, who is tasked with delivering a message to select audiences under the control of the voice who promises compliance from the public. Readers who love thought-provoking reads will enjoy learning how the Mayor not only confronts his own role in a larger contest between manipulation and autonomy, but also deals with the pressure of maintaining his leadership and facing alien influences. The way the opening chapter progresses, the plot is definitely intriguing. You rightly highlight how powerless we humans would be despite all efforts to stop such an invasion. Overall, it sounds like a thought-provoking book, but for mature readers only. Thank you for your great review.

Nice review. The book does sound scary to me and not something that would put anyone to sleep. I wouldn't like it very much if aliens took over control of my mind and my life. It is an interesting concept to ponder.

The book seems quite interesting, I am especially interested in the way the mayor deals with the 'voice' in his head. It does make me question the true existence of aliens.

The Mayor seems to be experiencing lots of adventures under the influence of the alien "voice." It doesn't sound like a lot of fun, being constantly on the lookout for assassins and having something else in control of his life.
