Review by Kingston10 -- Containment Breach
Science is a beauty to life. Creation adds to fulfill one purpose of life. Just like children are a blessing to their parents. But what happens when the created suddenly becomes a cold-blooded, serial killer? What may have gone wrong? Containment Breach is a book by Wm. A. Yandell. It's a book that combines the elements of science and technology.
This is a story of a scientist, Dr. Walter Smithon. He was a scientist within the field of bioengineering. He followed the works of his mentor, Dr. Demetrius Zayack. He soon discovered the death of Zayack. What led to his death? Smithon was a Level Four scientist, alongside Jack, Steve and Marcie. David was their group leader and his retirement was imminent. Smithon had a wonderful secretary called Jan, whom was married to James. As a life- former, he created his own life-forms, called Zayans, named after Zayack. He didn't want the Zayans to be known by his colleagues, and so, became so insecure. Troubles began to set in when he and his team of scientists were involved in Desert Space Center Operation. The operation, unknown to them, was to find a way to kill another life-forms created by Zayack, before his death. They were to ensure they didn't get to Earth. They were called Creatures. The Creatures had become cold-blooded killers. How did this happen? Are they similar or very different from the Zayans?
Things started to get ugly when Jan was found to wanting everywhere. Her husband became unrest and was also found missing. As the operation began in space, series of events began to unfold. Dr. Smithon was made the team leader but this didn't go well with Steve. Jack and Marcie were supportive and more of team players. The need to use open restart to kill the Creatures was suggested but it proved abbortive. This was led by Bush, Director of World Alliance Intelligence Division and a host of people under his command. Unfortunately, Jack and Steve found themselves on the side of the director, which ultimately led to their death. Smithon, on the other hand, worked with General Tallen, and some notable and trustworthy people. If only they were told the truth right from the start and were also provided with the necessary files and information, probably things wouldn't have gone so ugly. Just as the open restart proved futile, Dr. Smithon's plan to use the laser light also fell through. Finally, Smithon was provided all the details and soon discovered that Bush was the mastermind behind the Creatures' attack. How were the Creatures defeated? Was the evil minister made to pay for his vicious, ruthless experiments that turned the Creatures into monsters?
Now the most appealing part of the book are the many rhetorical questions asked by the narrator. Questions like: what if they do know and that is what this is about? Is this a coincidence or a confirmation I am being watched? These questions were raised by Smithon, when he was stuck between ending his creations or to save his own skin. These questions put my emotions into life and got me wondering what really is going to happen to the Zayans and his work, even when am yet to read half of the book. Additionally, I must confess to the way mind readers in this thrilling book did their job. It was almost perfect. I enjoyed it so much. Keifer and Jonathon really did all their best to read Smithon's mind but they didn't know he was also from a family of readers. I wish I had such ability.
The only disappoinment I found in this book was the lack of chapters and suitable headings. Though, it did get me confused a little but, I can't take away the thrills and series of mind-blowing events that overshadowed any doubts. Take for example, the way Dr. Smithon communicated with the Zayans was extraordinary. As if that was enough, he was able to communicate with the Creatures, and was able to stop the attacks. For a moment, I imagined myself being there, watching the drama. No one could have seen this coming. The book is full of suspense and fears.
However, I rated this book four out of four stars. The characters were well developed and unique in their personalities, especially Smithon. His abilities, skills, leadership role, his family, love life, and most of all, his profession, were vividly explained to the readers.
The time spent searching for ways to kill the Creatures gave no room for romance or erotic pleasure. Therefore, it contained no erotic scene. However, the book will be most appealing to lovers of sci-fi books, action/adventure readers, irrespective of the age. Couple with the fact that it contained no erotic scene, it has no word misspelt or grammatical errors. The book is exceptionally well edited and proofread.
