Review by Patrick Nandi -- The Hand Bringer
The hand bringer by Christopher J Penington is a science fictional story based in ancient Romania. It is the story of Peter Hadrian who is bitten by a vampire but after checking and treatment by Dr Kolemis at the Blue Lab Corridor finds out that he had previously been exposed to the vampire virus and that his body was somehow resistant. Peter had attributes of a vampire. After his treatment and training he is assigned the duty to go back in time that is 1476 which is 500 - 600 years back to the origin of vampire. Once there he was to assassinate Vlad Dracula. Peter accept the task because he was informed that there was a possibility that he could see his son. He states clearly that he is doing it not because of the money which they have been promised after successful completion of the mission.
The scientists used the portal to take Peter's team back to 1476 and the team comprised of Peter, Luke, Bat, Kolemis, and Elizabeth. From the onset Peter started suspecting that there was somebody who was not after the success of the team. Since they were few Peter started by making an alliance with Vlad Dracula and fighting the Turkish knights. He eventually shifted his alliance to Moldavian army and helped rescue Sergumir whom he requested that he will fight along them in return he would help him find and fight Vlad Dracula. He started forming alliance with Turks army, the Wallachian and the Pasha to join him in fighting Vlad Dracula. With the combined force of the alliance he made and the strategic planning and the wide consultations he had done for Vlad Dracula and Deycheaba he managed to defeat and kill them. This was not without casualties where he lost Luke and Bat in the hands of Vlad Dracula.
Once General Oliver realized the selfishness of Kolemis whose intention was only to come out the strongest by injecting himself with the blood of Vlad Dracula and Nicolae who run away with Peter,s son he managed to control the portal on their return in such a way that Peter got his son and he also brought Boriana who was married to Peter. Oliver changed the settings and he was taken back to 1000 years back and at the Antarctica. Then Peter, Boriana and Stephen lived happily after and in a safe world.
I give the book 4 stars out of 4 because of its exceptional of events taking place and the great characters in the story. What l liked most is keeping the reader in suspense and the revelation of Dr Kolemis character finally and the role he played in trying to kill Peter. What l disliked most is the use of vulgar language.
The book was professionally edited as l never noted any typos or grammatical error in the book. The where scenes that were erotic in the book. The book also touches on a religious denominations though l was not affected by it.
