Containment Breach by Wm. A. Yandell is an impressive book! The plot is leading but with just enough element of surprise. It leaves the reader asking for what’s next. The book can hardly be put down. The character’s good humor effectively adds to the satisfying plot as well.

As the title suggests, the book tells about a project experiment gone wrong. The consequences now pose a threat to human life. With the lead scientist of the experiment, Demetrius Zayack, gone; the military High Commander orders for a team of bioengineering scientists to find a way to resolve the disastrous situation. Walter Smithton, a bioengineering scientist working on life-form building and development similar to Zayack’s, gets pulled out with his team on to the secret mission. They were to work on a risky experiment with which they were only provided incomplete and tampered research data. As they struggled with the military to formulate a solution and obtain the complete unaltered data, they consequently face the hideous truths and machinations that led to the disaster.

What I liked most about the story is the conflict itself. It is a very potent mix of mystery, danger and intelligent suspense. The story was well narrated and understandable despite the use of jargon. It was like a secret wonderfully told in stages, each one dumbfounding than the last. The concept of human fallibilities and tendencies merged with the logical cases in scientific research is beautifully played as well. Add the humorous and amusing lines from the characters that further stir the revolving emotion up as the cherry on top of this delicious Sci-Fi cake. Boredom did not become an issue with this story. I disliked the fact, however, that the story was ended so abruptly. As the conflict was resolved and reached the highest peak of excitement, the story landed suddenly on the ground. The delivery of the after-event seems rushed and was not as elaborate as the rest of the story.

Nonetheless, I rate this book 4 out of 4 stars. The excellent plot delivered justice to the reader’s satisfaction. I believe that this book will be much appreciated by persons in the science community and by those with an inclination to suspense and science.

I would also like to note that the book was not divided into chapters. The scenes were divided by subtle changes in POV, from first-person to third-person and vice versa.
