Official Review: Young Explorers and The Inca Wraith

[Following is the official OnlineBookClub.org review of "Young Explorers and the Inca Wraith" by S T Cameron.]

The book begins in the Inca Empire in the Spring of 1532. The main character is a young Inca boy who seals himself inside of a temple. By the next chapter the setting changes to Wakina, Minnesota on June 8, 1917. In this chapter, the main character changes to young CJ Kask. By the third chapter young CJ Kask and his father, Angus, are on their way to the Inca Empire where the young Inca boy previously sealed himself inside of the temple.

CJ’s father, an archaeologist, is asked to take himself and his team to Peru where the Inca Empire was previously found to see what has become of another group of archaeologists who have stopped communicating. Once in Peru the book changes dramatically. The new group of archaeologists are faced with secrets, danger, and the wraith of the young Inca boy.

I liked the story of this book, it was educational and had a good story line. It was very interesting and reminded me of a book that would be found in The Magic School Bus series.

What I did not like was that there seemed to be lots of grammar issues in this book. Another thing that I did not like about this book was that it seemed to be more of a children’s book than an adult book. Due to this it was a very easy read, but did not challenge me at all.

I rated this book 3 out of 4 stars. If it was not for the lack of difficulty of this book and the minor grammar issues I would have rated this book 4/4 stars. I would recommend this book to anyone who is not on an adult reading level or anyone who enjoyed The Magic School Bus series. If the author decided to write a book for adults I would definitely be interested in reading it.
