Review by Gathoni1991 -- Trinity's Fall by PA Vasey
Trinity's Fall is a contemporary science fiction novel written by P.A Vasey. It is a sequel to the book Trinity's Legacy. The author has penned down a fast paced, action packed plot that will leave the reader flipping pages by. It is narrated from the first person's point of view.
During the cold war, an intergalactic portal was accidentally created in Nevada desert. This was as a result of the atomic bomb tests. Adam Benedict stumbled on the portal and was en route to the Vu-Hak galaxy. The Vu-Hak - a race of aliens, took him, 'downloaded' his consciousness and put him in a machine. They then sent him back to earth with a Vu-Hak companion. Now the Vu-Hak were able to access the earth via the machines they created, and were planning to annihilate the human race.
Dr. Sarah Clarke had been working in a hospital in New York for six months. She got an anonymous call, but later agreed to meet the caller - Clem Reynolds. He tells her that her real name was Dr. Kate Morgan, and that the two had worked together at a hospital in Indiana Springs. But then she vanished into thin air. He told her that she was part of a conspiracy to cover up a looming disaster of global proportions. Later, she meets up with an FBI agent, Colleen Stillman who confirms Reynold's story. Moreover, Colleen is in possession of a classified video recording of an interview of a Vu-Hak individual, Cain. Cain lets them know that he had already tampered with their brains, and had given Kate the ability to save mankind. But why is Cain helping Kate yet he is a Vu-hak? Will Kate and her friends save humanity from annihilation?
The most outstanding feature of the story is the pace at which the plot unrolled. There were so many events, yet described in detail and flowed smoothly. The story had numerous twists and turns - there was no guessing what would happen next. While the plot was sophisticated, the story was narrated in a simple language, dotted with quantum physics jargon. With a unique and sophisticated storyline, the author brought out elements of fantasy. They included: mind reading, time travel, cyborg individuals, alternate/parallel universes and resurrection. There was so much reference to quantum physics - reading the book was a whole new experience for me.
I appreciated how the author portrayed women as bold people with their own convictions. People with unrelenting efforts and unwavering spirits. This was portrayed through the focal character - Dr. Kate Morgan. In the book, the author sheds light on some controversial issues that are right in the middle ethical and moral dilemmas. For instance, use of human embryos for scientific purposes, travelling back in time to change the course of history and consequences of atomic bomb tests. The story had an impeccable continuity, that is why I would love to see it made into a television series.
I loved the book because of the story and the plot elements. It was obviously professionally edited. I can't think of any element of the book I disliked, that is why I rate it 4 out of 4 stars. I recommend the book to lovers of science fiction novels.
