Trinity's Fall, the second book of the Vu-Hak War series, follows the story of Dr. Kate Morgan and her companions as they try to save Earth from the Vu-Hak. This race of highly advanced, ruthless, and resilient alien conquerors is determined to destroy humanity and use our planet's resources for their own benefit. Even though their invasion was prevented in the first book, they still intend to win the war. They're on Earth, ghostlike and undetectable. It's up to Kate to uncover their plan and use whatever means necessary to stop them before it is too late.

I've been trying to find a good sci-fi book about aliens for a while now, and when I read the description of Trinity's Fall, something made me pick it up without hesitation. It was obvious from the very first chapter that I had made the right decision. Every good book begins with a scene that catches the attention of the readers so that they feel compelled to continue reading. This book manages to do just that while also setting the general pace and mood of the later chapters. The plot itself is action-packed and keeps you turning the pages. It also managed to surprise me with its plot twists on several occasions, something that not many books are able to do nowadays. The author is not afraid to stray from the obvious path and take some risks, and the result of that is a dynamic, thrilling book.

It amazed me how much research has been put into the making of this book. The characters constantly move from one place to another, from the United States all the way to Antarctica. Even so, all the places are described so vividly that I could picture them without having been there once. Some of the more complex scientific and medical terminology that PA Vasey has used confused me a bit - I'm not an expert in those fields like he is - but I always managed to catch up quickly enough thanks to the well-structured dialogue. There are also scenes and conversations that make you pause for a moment to think things through, not just so you can connect the dots of the plot but to reflect on everything from a philosophical standpoint.

Something that I absolutely loved was that the main character, Kate, is the type who knows what needs to be done, isn't afraid to take action, and her decisions advance the plot instead of her being dragged along with it. Another thing that made a positive impression was that there weren't any unnecessary couples thrown into the mix just for the sake of it. The book is solid enough as it is without anything like that. I think that a romantic subplot would only distract the reader from an already complex main theme. A hint of possible romance appears at one point, but it thankfully remains just that.

I give this book 4 out of 4 stars. It is professionally edited with only a handful of mistakes that I managed to find. There was also nothing that I particularly disliked about it. It was a very enjoyable read overall.

I believe that people who like science fiction would enjoy reading Trinity's Fall very much as it includes almost every theme that the genre has to offer. This book could also be read pretty much as a standalone novel because you don't need to know specific things from the first book in order for the second one to make sense. All the important facts and events from the first book are included and explained from different points of view. With all that said, I'll definitely be keeping an eye out for the third book of the series as I can't wait to see what will happen after that amazing ending.
