Homecoming-The Unari Experiment Book 1 by Brian Harad is the beginning of a science fiction series filled with anomalies, secrets, and mental anguish.

The book introduces us to the president of the United States, along with close staff who have been reached out to by an alien species. From here there are multiple exchanges until there is a physical meeting, and the true source of the contact. The Thunerian Alliance then send their ship Andromeda navigated by Captain Utari, Emperor Nojakuu, Queen Jata of Unari, and her close allies. Expecting these alien species to look typical to Hollywood films is quite the opposite of what the Oval Office staff witnessed. Queen Jata informs them that she sent her male son to be born on Earth, disguised as a human to protect him from the dangers of what was happening within Unari. It is now the time for her
to bring him back home.

Byron Hollington has spent his 55 years on Earth living what he felt was a normal life, along with his wife and children. That is until he is drugged by Sarraqa and brought aboard the ship, abandoning all that he knew including his human form. Distraught and confused, Bryon's true battle begins accepting these vast new changes, and letting go of his human life. This is not to say it will be his only challenge, as others may oppose his human traits.

I felt the author created a very vivid picture of what these alien species looked like, as well as the influence of Mythological creatures into it. I did find at times that Harad went a little too much into detail on topics, sounding repetitious at times. I genuinely felt the anguish Byron was going through, and enjoyed the mental dialogue for him, including the cursing along with sarcasm. He does write very long narrative dialogue, as opposed to breaking it up to add character gestures or facial expressions for example.

There is a fair amount of side characters, that you begin to learn their storyline a bit more throughout the book. Krysheena, who is a Thunerian seems to be defiant and not fond of Bryon, who is now called Thundercloud but you learn more about her back story which helped me develop more of a fondness for her. You also pick up fairly quick who is going to be the antagonist of the story, which I won't spoil!

Harad explains the hierarchy system in Unari, which I found to be interesting, particularly their views among the other species. The book did lag for a bit in the beginning, at the midway point it really turned and started progressing. The last two chapters I found to be very enthralling, as there are some small plot twists and leaves on such a cliff hanger!

All over I found Homecoming- The Unari Experiment to be a very well written book, finding only one error that I had seen. I would suggest readers who enjoy more science fiction genres. Due to the cursing and violent scene at the end I would not suggest this for younger readers. There weren’t any erotic scenes, just a few sexual references. With all being said I would rate this book a 4 out of 4. I am looking forward to the second book from that cliffhanger ending!
