The President of the United States has to make a deal with two extraterrestrial species in this science fiction fantasy novel. He is pressed with the value of a “human life” versus technology. The deal involves the extraction of an alien on Earth who was disguised as a human from birth. This “human”, Bryon Hollington, also known as Thundercloud, thinks he is just an average joe living his daily life. He is mistaken. When the extraction is complete, he is introduced to two alien species that were unknown to humankind: the Thunerians and the Unarians.

The Thunerians are a bipedal species with the head of a fox. The Unarians resemble unicorns with distinct features. Bryon Hollington (Thundercloud) finds out he is an Unarian. He must learn the ways and powers of his real species on his two-month trip back to their home planet. His real mother, Queen Jata, expects a lot from him and is the fierce Unarian leader. What will become of Thundercloud?

Homecoming: The Unari Experiment Book 1 by Brian Harad is a fantastically unique book. It’s comical and original. Thundercloud is insanely sarcastic, and the aliens have no sense of humor. This makes some of the situations even more hilarious. I loved how each of the two extraterrestrial species is based on human myths. It definitely makes the book easier to read knowing a little bit about a mostly foreign topic. I also enjoyed the illustrations at the beginning of each chapter. They paint a picture of the characters and foreshadow what’s to come.

There was a lot of repetition in this book. This mostly consisted of alien descriptions and culture. I think the author purposely did this because it is the first book in the series. He wanted his readers to fully understand everything that he was creating. The only thing I disliked about the book was that it had a bunch of run-on sentences. The details included in the sentences were very interesting to read, but I think a lot of sentences towards the beginning of the story could be cut down a bit. Despite this one flaw, I fell in love with this novel and want to continue the series. I give this book a rating of 4 out of 4 stars.

There was a common spelling error that I noticed throughout the book. Other than that, the mistakes were minimal. I would not recommend this book to children. No erotic content. However, it is very vulgar, and there is a scene towards the end which is very dark and disturbing. Readers who enjoy sarcastic comedy and alien fantasy should read this book. A good target audience would be from ages 21 to 35.
