Once in a while, life springs surprises on all people. Hardly anyone could possibly have as many surprises in one day as Kate Morgan, the protagonist of Trinity’s Fall by P.A. Vasey, had. A strange woman told her several incredible things all at once. It turned out that Kate Morgan was involved in the attempt to repel the invasion of Vu-Hak aliens through the intergalactic portal. Unfortunately, the attempt failed. The aliens had already made their way to Earth. Kate Morgan's memories were replaced with fake ones in such a way that she doesn't remember anything about it. To make matters worse, Vu-Hak are now out for her. Luckily, her friend Adam Benedict, whom she considered dead, in fact is alive.

Trinity’s Fall is a sequel of the sci-fi novel Trinity’s Legacy, written by the same author. However, this book can be read as a standalone literary work. The readers learn the contents of the previous book along with Kate Morgan, who gradually comes to know her true past. Trinity’s Fall definitely is a book you can’t tear yourself away from. The plot moves swiftly. Each new chapter sets the characters exactly into the situations that readers could least expect.

The book is very well-edited. There are no typos or errors. It is written in a very clear and vivid language. Although P.A. Vasey is a medical oncologist, his literary style is apparently superior to that of many professional writers. Also, Trinity’s Fall is real science fiction, in the truest sense of the word. The book has a fair amount of science. The author is evidently well-versed in astronomy and physical science. When his novel’s characters talk about space, dark matter, wormholes and time travel, the author’s profound erudition is reflected in these conversations. One and the same person cannot very often be a medical oncologist and a good writer while possessing some knowledge in astronomy, as well.

Of course, the idea of conquering the good old Earth by cruel aliens can’t be called a new one. Nevertheless, P.A. Vasey was able to update it. Unlike most imaginary aliens, Vu-Hak are a sort of ethereal creatures or free-floating minds that can capture and control human brains. Though, they need machine bodies to pass through the portal.

As for Kate Morgan, she is courageous, smart and very energetic, but she is suffering from psychological trauma caused by the death of her little daughter. Nonetheless, Kate finds the strength to cope with her experiences and resist the insidious Vu-Hak. In addition, she has to make extremely difficult decisions, on which the fate of all humankind depends on her. Fans of strong female characters will surely like this heroine.

So, the novel Trinity’s Fall is beautifully written and very exciting. It has plenty of unusual plot twists and ideas that can be called fresh and new for science fiction. Therefore, I give this book 4 out of 4 stars. There are no erotic scenes in this novel, but a lot of violence. Characters often swear hard but given the circumstances in which they often find themselves, they are quite understandable.

I wonder how the realisation that Adam Benedict is alive changes the situation for Kate Morgan. I can't wait to find out. This is an excellent review.

I'm not a big fan of science fiction, so I think I'll pass on this book. Kate does sound like a great main character, though. Great review!

The idea of reading a sequel where one discovers the happenings of the prequel alongside an amnesiac protagonist is proving surprisingly enticing to me. Thanks for this insightful review, and for giving me a solid recommendation!

She had more than amnesia, her real memories were replaced by others. Read the book and you will understand how it was done. However, the sequel idea is really good. :D

That's an interesting way to make sure the book remains accessible to those who haven't read the previous novel in the series. This sounds like a great science fiction story. Thanks for the review!
