Review by Leah M -- The Hand Bringer
The Hand Bringer, by Christopher J. Penington, is a great book to read for anyone who enjoys a great adventure story. The author skillfully uses mystery, suspense, adventure, romance, action as well as fiction to help in shaping the plot of the story. If you enjoy an adventure-packed story, then this is a book that you should add to your reading list.
In a nutshell, the story is about Peter Hadrian, who is a police officer. Even though he is an exceptional cop, he is dealing with the loss of his son, which has made him a bitter person. His life, however, takes an unexpected turn one night while on the call of duty where he encounters a vampire and has a near-death experience. He is quickly rushed to ASA and resurrects with a new body and has to go back in time for an undercover assignment. While on this mission, he discovers that he is the eagerly awaited savior. He, however, needs to reconcile with his past to succeed in the mission and to enjoy true love. Together with his friends, they embark on one of the deadliest mission that has the potential of altering the fate of the entire universe.
Even though the story has several characters, the author has done a great job in ensuring that the story flows naturally throughout the entire book. Themes of reconciliation, Redemption, Hope, Faith, and Love are quite evident in building the plot of the story. Apart from the fact that the story is entertaining, it is educative as well since there are a lot of life skills, life lessons, wisdom, and quotes intelligently shared by the author with the help of various characters.
Anyone who is on a self-discovery journey will enjoy reading this book given that the characters are relatable, and the reflections are great in helping one gain a new perspective on life. People who enjoy medieval action stories, adventure, mystery, suspense, as well as fiction will enjoy reading this book. The book may, however, not be suitable for children since it has a few adult scenes.
The book is well-edited since I did not find any mistakes. It is a book that is easy to understand, and the description used by the author helps to paint a clear picture of the scenes. There is nothing to dislike about this book. I am therefore awarding this book 4 out of 4 stars and intend to read similar books by the author.
