Review by Becccccca+98 -- The Hand Bringer
In order to rid the world of the growing power of vampires, one man must do the impossible. Officer Peter Hadrian’s life is flipped upside down when he’s faced with the tragic loss of his young son and wife. While dealing with this tragedy he is called on to assist another officer on duty. After being injured by his brutal encounter with a formidable foe, Peter Hadrian is brought to a secret military facility and masterfully re-engineered to become the ultimate warrior. He is then trained and recruited by this government agency to embark on a mission to travel back in time to when it all began with Prince Vlad Tepes or as he is more commonly known as; Dracula. However, this is just the beginning of an unfathomable rollercoaster of a journey that is sure to change his life forever.
I give this book, The Hand Bringer by Christopher J. Penington a 4 out of 4 stars. This book is without a doubt one of the most action filled books I’ve ever read. I love the concept of combining time travel and vampires, I thought that was brilliant and unlike anything I’ve ever read before. I also really enjoyed the characters, I felt like throughout the book I became more and more attached to them and felt heart ache at their loss.
I loved the flow of the book and how smoothly the transitions were between chapters. The book appears well-edited with little to no errors. This book also introduced a fresh perception on the concept of vampires that differs from romance novels which I thought was incredibly refreshing. Throughout the book it is fairly evident that the author has an extremely thorough knowledge on warfare and battle techniques which I feel only further added to the realism of the book.
I also applaud the authors’ commitment towards the research and historical accuracy of this book. The research combined with his own knowledge, allows readers to completely immerse themselves in the book. I generally don’t read books like this, but after reading the description my curiosity got the better of me and I was not at all disappointed.
Readers be warned, there is also quite a bit of profanity throughout the book. It didn’t necessarily bother me but for those of you who are more sensitive to profanity, please consider this as a little warning. I would definitely highly recommend this book to all those who love anything and everything to do with vampires.
