Life seems to be great for Sunsky as the future queen of the gryphons. Deamspinner is her mate and along with her family she is surrounded by love and support. A black being haunts her dreams causing her to dought everything. Fear from her dream has her flying in deep thought into an unknown area that a youngster like her is not to go.

After an accident that takes her out the skies she is at the mercy of her natural enemy a winged horse. Nightsky does not see her as an enemy and strives to take care of her. Through his gentle and loving nature he breaks down the walls of fear around her to end up mating together. Their time is short-lived together as her wing heals. She leaves him and returns home. Once home the secret of mating with a horse is discovered as she conceived a Hippogryph egg showing her crime for all to see. Skysun chooses to stand by her egg and forsake all that she knows for her child. No matter how far she thinks she has fallen destiny has a plan for her and it will not be easy but it will not let her go.

The biggest detail that I liked most about this book is that it is truly unique in story and outcome. The blend of wholesomeness and action makes it stand out from all the books I read today. It is difficult to explain how unique this book is without giving away spoilers.

What I found to be the aspect that I dislike the most about this book are the names. This book has quite the unique amount of characters spanning a few different species. I found it difficult for myself to keep it all straight especially in the latter half.

I rate The Grphon by Paula Grover 4 out of 4 stars. This book is written well and is well edited. The beginning had a bit of a slow start but it was not enough to take away from the story. This rating comes from a wonderfully, unique story that pulled me in and I could not put it down. Paula Grover uses detail but leaves some to the imagination of the reader to put you in Sunsky’s spot.

I would suggest that everyone should read this book. I know it is geared for young teens but adults will full heartily enjoy this as well. It has a bit of everything to appease all tastes. The Grphon has all the makings to make a lasting impression on all its readers.
