This book seems to portrait true friendship. When Shelley and Bernie helps Alister through his growth spurt rather than avoiding him teaches a great lesson. Thanks for the review

You're never too old for a children's book! I think this would be enjoyable for most adults as well. Thanks for stopping by!

I can imagine that their relationships will change as Alister does, but I really hope that they remain close. Loving the different aspects of fantasy. I’m much older than the recommended age, but I just can’t get enough of good middle-grade fantasy. Glad to find this gem! Great review.
Oh, you must read this! I think you'll really enjoy it. I really can't wait to see what else the author comes up with.

If you don't like this genre, I'm not sure the book is for you. However, it might be worth a try anyway. Thanks.

I like the thought of parents reading books for their children. I hope to get this book and read it to my siblings too. Nice review

I really appreciate that you included an example of the violence that may make it unsuitable for sensitive children. The clear picture of a bloody elk being eaten does bum me out a little myself.
It does sound like an interesting read otherwise, especially with the protagonists who despite their rivalry, show unwavering loyalty towards each other: truly how actual siblings should be. Awesome review!

Yes! They really did act like siblings. There wasn't a lot of violence, but I know there are sensitive children out there that wouldn't be able to deal with it. Thanks!

It sounds like the author has created an interesting world. However, most of my teen readers like the book to start with action, so this would not be their style.

Thank you very much for this great review! Really sorry that such an amazing story had so many errors. I still would definitely check this one out, especially because I love when a story is told in first person. :)

I usually like YA genre but, by the title of the book, I figured it would be something different to what it is as I learnt reading the review. I do not know why, maybe the cognitive dissonance, but it does not sound like it's for me :o Thank you for such an informative review! :)
