Review by wanjirue159 -- The Hand Bringer
The Hand Bringer is an intriguing science-fiction novel by Christopher J. Penington. An attack by vampires is threatening to destroy humanity for good. These vampires come carrying very deadly virus. The virus is being transmitted to humans through a vampire’s bite. Shortly after the bite, humans succumb to death.
The protagonist, Peter Hadrian, is an excellent police officer from Dallas. He is going through a lot of stress due to a tragedy that recently happened to his family. His wife was brutally killed by the vampires and his son went missing mysteriously. Peter Indulges in alcohol due to stress and loneliness. One day, Peter is on duty when he receives a call that would change his life forever. This call was from a fellow officer asking for assistance. When he arrives at the scene, he is attacked by a vampire and is left clinging for his life. He is the accompanied to the hospital by his friend Luke. On their way to the hospital, they are diverted and Peter finds himself in a helicopter. He is the taken to a facility at Fort Hood, Texas. This facility belongs to a clandestine governmental agency. This is where Peter is genetically re-engineered into a powerful warrior. He becomes a very useful weapon in the fight against the vampires.
The descriptions in this book are so vivid, enabling the reader to visualize the scenes and understand the unfolding events. The plot is also interesting and the characters well-rounded. Presence of humour in this book makes it even more enjoyable. This book is also full of suspense which made it difficult for me to put it down. I was eager to know what happens next. This book is indeed a page-turner.
I rate this book 4 out of 4 stars because it was professionally edited, and I also found it entertaining. Moreover, this book is action-packed which made it even more enjoyable. The language used in this book was also easy to read and understand. I honestly had an unforgettable experience reading this book.
I would recommend this book to anyone who enjoys reading science fiction books. Those who like action-packed books will also find it interesting. I would also recommend this book to those people who like books full of suspense. However, I would not recommend it to children since it has some erotic scenes. Those who are scared of vampires and horrific scenes might not like it.
