The Hand Bringer by Christopher J. Pennington is a science fiction, fantasy, and epic novel with various plot twists. Peter Hadrian, the protagonist of the novel, is a tough and dedicated cop who just experienced the trauma of the murder of his wife and the mysterious disappearance of his son. On day while discharging his duties as an officer, he received a distress call to help another police officer. Upon getting to the place, he discovered that two cops were killed already. After that, he was attacked by someone who unknown to him was a vampire. Eventually, Peter killed the vampire, but he was already bitten by it.

His ride to the hospital by an ambulance was diverted, and he was taken to a secret agency at Texas, alongside his friend, Luke McElroy, who is also a police officer. Luke had come to the place where the unknown man attacked Peter. On their way, Luke became aware of the secret governmental agency, Apocalypse Suppression Administration (ASA), that is carrying out investigations on the disease, vampirism. At ASA headquarters, Peter and Luke were told they have to join an elite team that is being prepared to be sent back in time to Medieval Romania to 1476. This was to eliminate the vampires who might soon become threats to humans in the modern world.

The origin of vampirism was thought to be in Medieval Romania with Prince Vlad Dracula. The team's mission is to kill Vlad Dracula, who is said to be responsible for the spread of the vampiric plague, and any other present vampire at that time. Peter approved the plan and stated that the only compensation he needed from them was to stop at the place and time where his son had mysteriously disappeared and save him. They agreed that it would be done after Dracula and the other vampires were killed.

The Hand Bringer by Christopher J. Pennington is an interesting and captivating book with different themes. The book contains suspense, action, romance, time travel, and vampirism. The narration describes events that took place in 1476 in Romania and the 21st century in Texas, Dallas, and Bucharest. The vivid description of each character and period shows the amount of research and devotion the author has put in to creating such an intriguing novel. I enjoyed reading this novel because of the adventurous, suspenseful, and intricate plot. The events in the novel are unpredictable, and the plots often turn unexpected, which is quite captivating.

I recommend this interesting book by Christopher J. Pennington to people who enjoy reading novels containing science fantasies, romance, and historical fiction. There were action and battle scenes, so, people who detest those might want to read something else. I wouldn't recommend it for children because there were sexual references and violent scenes. I would rate this novel 4 out of 4 stars because it was well-written and edited. I found only one error while reading, which means it was professionally edited.
