Brandon Mull's Fablehaven series

Has anyone read it? A personal favorite and recommendation of mine. It starts sort of slow, at least until the middle of the first book, but once the pace starts picking up, you just can't put the book down - and it's impossible to stop before you have read all five of them! Any thoughts on the series?
Favorite characters, favorite scenes? (preferably avoiding as much as we can the dreaded spoilers, I don't have the topic labeled as one with them in it, thank you)

I have read the series and loved it. All 5 books were good and I liked the combination of humor, adventure and fantasy. I also liked the 2 kids and their courage and insight. A great series suitable for kids and adults alike.

I read one book from this author, the first book from the Beyonders series. Really love that book. I've been wanting to read his other works. Fablehaven sounds like a great series too.

Oh, I have the Beyonders in my TR list. It's true, Mull is capable of weaving a unique tale and make you feel as many different emotions as possible. The good thing is, he does so in scales, so that we don't get bored when we reach the final books.

Indeed! Warren, Seth and Raxtus were the best trio in the series, btw.

Fablehaven is a secret nature preserve protecting beings of myth and legend from the outside world. The current caretaker, Stan Sorenson, describes it as "a refuge for mystical creatures". Those who live in this large sanctuary, mortal and magical, must abide by a treaty of rules. The most common rules are focused upon "the law of the harvest" or "the law of retribution" meaning, you reap what you sow. It is described in the book as, "mischief for mischief, trouble for trouble, magic for magic." If this law in the treaty is broken, you lose the magical protection it provides, allowing for retaliation, which is essentially what drives the plot through the first book. There also exist magical borders that keep most mystical creatures within the preserve, but out of certain domains. The caretaker's house and grounds are within one of these protective boundaries. However, some of these borders dissolve on certain nights, allowing frightening creatures to roam free on the grounds, one of which - Midsummer Eve - occurs in the first book.

Right? There's never a boring moment reading his book. He somehow just knows how to place elements of his story at the right moment. I've been wanting to finish the series.

Oh, yes! He introduces new feelings with each book. It's like, he's building all this tension as the series progresses, and attacks us right when we're about to burst! We're experiencing emotional growth and depth development side by side with the characters. Not to mention the world-building. I could practically close my eyes and picture Fablehaven like a map with all the details he gave. I'm more than ready to get my hands on his Beyonders <3

I personally love the slow introduction, lets you build more of a connection with the characters! However, I have read all five books and totally agree that they can't be put down till you finish the entire series! Compliments to Brandon Mull for a great series.

Yes this was a great book and I found it to be way better than the Beyonders. Never a boring part in this book and I just had to retread it for a total of 3 times.

I would have to agree. This is one of my favorite series. It is a grand adventure from start to finish. full of mystical creature's action and above all adventure it may be a young adult book , but as an adult I felt like a kid again with these book's. five star's from me

My girls and I all loved this series. As has been said, the books are great for young people and also those who are only young at heart.
We also loved the Beyonders books.
