The Necromancer is the fourth book of The Secrets of Nicholas Flamel series. It follows twins Josh and Sophie Newman. In the previous books, they discover that their employers, Nicholas Flamel and his wife Perenelle, are no ordinary people and, after the visit of an unexpected visitor, they will be catapulted into a journey full of magic and danger, all in a matter of seconds...

This book and the other ones I've read so far are full of mythical creatures and sub-stories, which I believe drew my attention in the first place. However, there seems to be a lack of confrontation or direct fights/action. Somehow, there is always a loop where the myriad characters, good or bad, escape their predicament easily.

Gosh, I'm in love with the The Secrets of the Immortal Nicholas Flamel! I remember walking into a book store somewhere in 2010 (when The Necromancer hit the shelves) and spotting it right away. It was the book's title that caught my eye. Since there isn't much on Necromancers in fantasy literature, I instantly turned it to the back cover to read the resume. After realizing it was number 4 from a whole series, I bought all 4 of the books that day and finished them in no time.
Scott's style is absolutely genius and devouring, his world is filled with all sorts of interesting creatures, magic and historical elements. It's hard to describe his writing with just few sentences, but this man takes up the fantasy genre to a whole new level!
