This one sounds apocalyptic for sure! 🧲 Shifting magnetic poles, increasing radiation, destructive superstorms, widespread power outages, uninhabitable conditions, and a generalized sense of panicked pandemonium?! What a chaotic whirlwind of terrifying vignette scenarios. Thank you for such a thorough review of this title!

It's quite an amazing technical plot that narrates possible aftermath based on shifting of the magnetic poles of the earth. The effect of radiation causing the part of the world uninhabitable is beyond the imaginary concept. Nice review, kandscreeley. Thanks.

This book has a unique theme I haven't come across. Natural calamity content such as Earth's magnetic poles shifting is not common place. It was creative of the author to engage in such curiosity. It is scary at the same time. How would it be like? Like Africa becoming extremely cold beyond habitation? People would somehow manage without power or digital devices and networks but not extreme weather or radioactive saturation from electro magnetic waves. The review has done a good job for anyone who might need to be convinced to read the book. It seems like a good read for all adult audiences.

The concept of apocalypse is very morbid, but titillating to the human mind. We love thinking of our own demise, how long we would survive, what we could and could not do without, and what we believe our strengths and weaknesses are versus what they might actually be. There are plenty of zombie apocalypse stories, plenty of economical collapses and nuclear war stories, however, the concept of magnetic poles causing radiation rather than waste and war draws my attention. I'll definitely take a look at it, though the idea of the jumping back and forth in the timeline puts me off a tad. We shall see if it is worth the read.

I have never read any book that is an apocalyptic genre, but since When North Becomes South seems like a great book, I don't mind giving it a shot. Congratulations on the BOTD. Great review!

The plot sounds very interesting. I had already heard about the possibility of the poles shifting, so the question of how people would react to suddenly having no technology had already been on my mind previously. I'm happily surprised to see someone actually wrote a book about it. Thanks for the review.

Thought-provoking indeed. Comparing our situation now to the situation in the story, I think we all should feel blessed and hopeful for a better year ahead. Great review. Thanks for the insights.

The concept of magnetic poles shifting, and eventually, radiation making most of the world uninhabitable is a thought-provoking fictional story. However, I'm not a fan of this genre, and I'll pass it on. Otherwise, congrats on the BOTD!

If I didn't get to the end of your review I would've been tempted to read the book because of the way you raise those fundamental questions at the beginning. Alas, I'm a stickler for well developed characters, a feature which you say is not in this book.

It's interesting to speculate what happens during the shifting of magnetic poles, and this book seems to cover its implication to humanity through a series of vignettes. I find it a refreshing approach to writing sci-fi novels, it kind of reminds me of World War Z. It seems like a thought-provoking read. Thanks for the review.

This story gives a very post-apocalyptic vibe. This is a genre that feels saturated whether it be movies or novels, etc. I do hope that author uses Laurie's and Stan's stories to unique effect in this book.
