We are Voulhire: A New Arrival under Great Skies by Matthew Tysz, is a novel of the sci-fi genre. It details the magnificence of the kingdom called Voulhire. Voulhire is a place that is more or less a gateway between the cosmos and caromentis, the physical and the magic world. It is a place made up of special people, some of who have superpowers, and others who are humans and skillful workers.

Enter Galen Bray, a citizen of the Lands of the Princes, a place ravaged by war. Bray sets out to Voulhire at the request of his dying uncle, Galen Onita. This trip is his perfect escape, and his destination is Magnum Caelum, a city in Voulhire. In Magnum Caelum, Bray will inherit his uncle's estate and forge. He will also meet Rowan, a financier, and the executor of his uncle's estate. Rowan becomes friends with Bray and dedicates his time to help him settle in. But is he truly being a friend? The rest of the book documents other key players who team up to bring on the action.

This book is the premier novel of the We are Voulhire series, but it doesn't fail to impress. The book is broken into sections dedicated to specific places and persons of interest in Voulhire. Through these sections, the author introduces us to the plot of the book. We learn the habits, skills, and characters of each city in Voulhire. The author takes us on a trip to Soulhire, the capital of Voulhire, where we meet King Wilhelm. We see what power tussle really looks like when the upright king locks horns with his corrupt second in command, Midus Maido.

This is one of the most unpredictable novels that I've read, as every character introduces a twist. It is suspense-filled and will keep everyone at the edge of their seats. The writing style is simple and easy to understand. The sections are punchy and engaging. The author adequately developed the characters and kept them interesting throughout the book. I loved the naïveté displayed by Galen Bray, and I can't wait to see his character unfold in the subsequent installments of this series.

I found nothing unpleasant about this book. It didn't have any errors, and it was professionally edited. The novel isn't lengthy. The fonts, paragraphs, and sentence flow were just right. We are Voulhire: A New Arrival under Great Skies by Matthew Tysz is a masterpiece, and I rate it four out of four stars. I recommend it to people who love novels in the science fiction genre. However, people who don't like mysticism, wizardry, or any kind of magic should not read this book.

I'm pretty sure you'd like the second and third book of the series since you liked this. They are more action packed with some plot twists. Even up till the third book Rowan hasn't revealed yet if he's truly a friend or not. Thanks for a well detailed review Samuthee
