Review by KYALISIIMA MACRIS -- We are Voulhire: The Fire...
We are Voulhire: The Fires of Virko by Matthew Tysz is a second book in the series of this science fiction memoir. It continues to bring forward the scenes and characters of magic in Virko and Yamon Soul but doesn’t show whether people practicing dark magic are after the politics of Voulhire or ruling Cosmos with magic.
Voulhire, in its industrialized era, some cites like Virko are dark magically with dark leaders. Galen, a boy from the land princes, is to go in Virko to get the iron to rejuvenate Magnum Caelum’s economy. He is accompanied by his friends, Rowan and Demetrius, a monk. While the lord of Virko approves their offer, he gives them another task, especially to the monk, to kill a demon which his son, lord Folcro, is using for his own benefits. The monk summons the demon from where it is kept but fails to kill it. It now destroys Virko taking control of the whole city.
Leaving the sager of Virko, Meldorath kills Eiodi appointing himself Eiodi of Yamon Soul. Most important cities of Voulhire are now being taken over by magic or destroyed. Will Voulhire survive this dark moment in the end?
The memoir was really intriguing. I must admit that this second book is better than the first book. The author writes his series in a very professional way. You can’t get lost because the second book started exactly where the first stopped. There were some scenes of survival and love, which I enjoyed most in the book, I think.
I like the characters of Galen, Rowan, and Demetrius. Their friendliness was now growing at a rapid speed, which I enjoyed. I also like how Rowan and Demetrius teased each other at times. The chapter of Folcro some times bored according to me. The author sometimes put in a lot of Virko politics, which somewhat distracted the reader from the subject matter. I dislike nothing from the book. Even if there is a chapter that seemed boring, but I don’t dislike it.
From the above comments about the book, I give it 4 out of 4 stars. It was professionally, proofread, and edited with no errors that I identified. The book had absolutely no profanity, and it teaches someone to be open-minded. Therefore, I see no harm of all ages reading it. If you have been looking for a book that teaches how the magic world connects with the world we are in, then I recommend these series of books by Mathew Tysz.
