Official Review: Spider Circus by Alice Nuttall

[Following is the official OnlineBookClub.org review of "Spider Circus" by Alice Nuttall.]

Wow, what a book! The book is a well written fantasy book and a first in a series. It centers on a special circus, the like of which you haven't seen before. It is one of the best books I have read recently and I do read a lot. The first thing that captured my attention was the title and within pages I was glued to the story and couldn't wait to get back to it in every free moment. This book is like finding a diamond in a haystack. It's really that good!

This is the story of Lizzie McCoy, a 14 year's old troubled black girl who ran away from home. tizzy's parents broke up and she lives with her mom and her 7 years old twin brothers. Since her parents separation Lizzie suffers from rage attacks and argues often with her mom. During one of those arguments Lizzie run away and joins a circus managed by the ringmaster Jack. She is the "wiredancer", a "Jack of all trades" and a dimensional to boot.

Lizzie soon finds out that this particular circus moves between worlds. Furthermore she has the ability to jump between worlds, if only she could manage it alas. Pretty soon she gets use to the life and rhyme of the circus, but she got enemies within the circus who want her gone. Our Lizzy isn't one who turns the other cheek and she fights back. Luckily she has also got friends who stand by her. When it all seems like a clear sailing, Lizzie finds out that she has other talents, that Jack is much more than he is seen and that he has a secret that can ruin them all.

Takes one unique circus, adds a measure of magic, a sprinkling of mystery and get one hell of a book! Dragons, predatory horses, dimensionals, shadow people and much more, all those are just a fraction of this enchanting book. I would gladly join this circus and travel with it between worlds…

I rate this book 4 out of 4 stars. I loved the book and really liked how the author described everything. The idea of the book is original and brilliant and the imagination of the author is awesome! Each world is built and described differently and the author isn't short of ideas. The plot was captivating and I didn't want the book to end. The world of the circus came to life for me and I could imagine myself taking part in the story. The end was mind blowing and left a good taste!

I highly recommend this book! The author did an excellent job portraying the characters and describing the atmosphere. There was a cast of colorful and eccentric characters which added a spice to the story. This book is told in the third person and is geared towards young adults, but young spirited adults will surely like it as well. The story was a lovely surprise and deserves all praises! I can hardly wait for the next one. Please Hurry up Ms. Alice Nuttall and finish writing it!

So what are you waiting for?? Buy a ticket to the most amazing circus in the world, slip into the world of the spider circus and watch the show of a life time!
