Review by Lia A -- Homecoming by Jude Austin
Homecoming by Jude Austin is the second installment of the Projects series. It is a spectacular ending to the intricate story.
After escaping GenTech, an interstellar scientific company, Kata and Tau go to Trandellia. Trandellia is Kataโs homeworld. They just want to live a normal life, without the suffering that they faced at GenTech for the past two years. Once they arrive, they have to find a way to make sure that they are not taken back to GenTech. After all, both Kata and Tau are still considered projects (human clones), which essentially are considered property and have the same rights as livestock. Kata must find a way to regain his status as a human and must find a way to keep Tau safe.
Soon, Kata makes an agreement with one of the leaders of his world. In exchange for regaining his status as human, and Tauโs safety away from GenTech, Kata will have to go to the planet Atthiras, a lawless planet, and find Jana Trine, the daughter of a foreign ambassador. How will Kata succeed? He has to be careful because if he puts his trust in the wrong person, both he and Tau would have to return to the people that have caused them so much pain and suffering.
The aspect of this book that I enjoyed the most was the character development. Austin had done an amazing job with the character development in the first book, and it had only gotten better. I enjoyed seeing how the characters deal with their problems. Kata had to fight for his freedom, and he also had to recover from the mental and physical trauma that had been inflicted on him. Tau had to learn what the world outside of a lab was like, and he also had to manage the trauma that had been inflicted on him. Both Tau and Kata grew as characters, and they were well-written and believable.
There was nothing in particular that I disliked about this book. There were believable characters, an intricate and complex plot, marvelous worldbuilding, and well-written dialogue. I also did not find any errors, and this book seems professionally edited.
Overall, I would rate this book 4 out of 4 stars. I chose to rate this book a 4 out of 4 because I thoroughly enjoyed this book. I found nothing in particular that I disliked about this book, and there were no errors.
I would recommend this book to fans of sci-fi or books about clones. If you are someone who is bothered by bad language, this book may not be for you. Otherwise, I highly recommend this incredible book.
