Review by Ana Victoria2002 -- We are Voulhire: The Fires...
Virko is the heart of the Voulhirian industry. A land that used to be nothing but a barren place and now has turned into the industrial capital of Voulhire. We are Voulhire: The Fires of Virko by Matthew Tysz continues with Galen and his new friends who now visit Virko to find iron. Lord Venden´s agrees to give them iron, before dying, in exchange for a favor. He needs the three heroes to get rid of a demon who lives under his house. But there is more than meets the eye, this creature is being controlled by someone very close to Lord Venden.
On the other side of Voulhire Meldorath and his minions are planning their next move. What will happen in this fascinating story?
The author does something amazing in this book: he conveys a really intricate idea in such a subtle and organized manner that readers will not have the chance of getting distracted. And this to me, is utterly important. With fantasy books, I tend to see some repetitive patterns that make me lose interest in said books such as typical plot-lines, boring dialogues, lack of organization, and purpose. The author managed to be unique. From his narration to the hidden messages and lessons scattered all around the piece. This is a beautiful book.
What is special about this story is the fact that readers have the chance of bonding with characters that we encounter in the first book. This is a positive point for me since the first part of the saga was a bit short. Therefore, we could not get to know the main characters really well. The way some actors in the story were shaped absolutely astounded me. Kayden was particularly my favorite person in this entire story. His morals and convictions make him stand out. The author managed to create an amazing plot twist at the end of the story involving Kayden that left me wanting more.
I would totally recommend this book to anyone who wants to read a story that has some fantastical elements that feel very familiar. We Are Voulhire has some aspects that resemble other books such as Lord of the Rings or The Hobbit. Die-hard fans of fantastic tales can feel comfortable reading this book and enjoy every little quirk and detail it has.
This author managed to once again leave me spellbound. I enjoyed everything this book has to offer, from its plot to its characters. There is not one single flaw in this piece, it was clearly professionally edited to have zero grammatical errors. I give this fantastic tale 4 stars out of 4 stars.
