Review by sraby1 -- Homecoming by Jude Austin
I really enjoyed reading Homecoming by Jude Austin. The story and characters drew me in and held on until the very last sentence. I could not put this book down. Jude Austin's writing style is very unique and engaging. She keeps her readers hooked on her story like a fish on bait and leaves them wishing the book never ended. This series is one of the best I have read in a long while, and I am intrigued to see what other works she has out there.
Homecoming picks up right where Project Tau left off. Our two main characters have made it to what they assume is somewhere safe. However, things begin to go wrong almost immediately. It seems as though the two main protagonists, Kata and Tau, just cannot catch a break! Between the kidnappings, betrayals, and unexpected twists in the story, you can never expect what will happen next. The characters grow, learn, hurt, and heal, and you will feel like you are with them every step of the way.
I was impressed by this book for reasons besides the story. I was also very impressed with the lack of errors in this book. I did not find any errors at all in this book! This book has clearly been edited professionally. The language used in this book is easy to understand and relate to as well. It avoids the traps that some books geared towards adults tend to fall into, such as pretentious and bland language usage.
All in all, I give this book four out of four stars. It was engaging and kept me guessing all the way to the end. I could relate to the characters and appreciate their situations as if they were real people. The wording used made things easy to understand. The only problems I really have with this book is how much was left unresolved at the end and the fact that the author brought up a situation and then never mentioned it again.
I believe the best audience for this book is adults. This is due to the amount of violence and profanity. I believe that sci-fi fans of all types would enjoy this book. There are some religious elements towards the end, but it is far from being oppressive. I would strongly recommend this book to anyone over sixteen who is intrigued by it.
