Brooke left Earth and her sister behind years ago. When she accidentally stumbles on some questionable and incriminating activity, she finds herself headed right back. She is forced to reconcile with her sister and meet a niece she didn’t even know existed. As soon as she thinks she’s lost it all, Brooke is thrown back into the mix and handed the media pass to her dream job.

In Beyond Cloud Nine, Greg Spry takes us on a journey to a not-so-distant future. He treats us to glimpses of what the every day life is like for humankind after many brilliant technological advances. We explore the political, medical, environmental, and technological aspects that Brook and Marie experience in their everyday lives in the year 2247 CE.

Greg Spry does an incredible job giving even the smallest details. From futuristic vending machines to what space travel has evolved to. He combines a realistic, if not morbid, glimpse of the path the environment and climate are on and how humankind has combatted those issues with an imaginative take on where our technological advances have lead us. The conflict is extremely realistic and intuitive to human nature. It highlights how even actions with the best intentions do not hold everyone in mind.

I give this book a 4 out of 4 stars. I feel the sheer amount of detailed descriptions warrants such a rating. The flow is easy to follow and captivating. What I liked most about this book is the attention paid to every detail. I can see this world in my mind from what the political climate is like down to what a can of soda looks like. I disliked most that a couple of words used with creative license took me some time to understand. I originally mistook “Attitude” and “subluminal” to be typos. I would have liked a brief explanation into these used as descriptor words. I’m no space pilot and need a little help. Even so, creative license is not a flaw by any means and can hardly describe unfamiliar descriptors as a bad thing.

Beyond Cloud Nine is exceptionally well edited. There are no typos or grammatical errors. Great care was applied to the creation of this book. I would highly recommend this book to all science fiction fans of all ages. Incredible writing aside, the story is imaginative and captivating. The scenes were brought to life in its attention to detail.
