I'm not one to love a sequel more than a first installment but, We are Voulhire: The Fires of Virko, takes the prize. I loved this sequel so much.

Matthew Tysz has done it again. He has proven that his writing style is unique and amazing.

In the first installment of this series, we get to meet Voulhire, a city filled with aristocracy and drama. A city that has been through so much, but has even more to offer.

In this second book we see the darkness around the city, and the potential effects that it would have on its people.

Galen, who we meet in the first book, is still trying to find his place and adapt to the different spectrum of living in the city after living in the islands all his life. He gets a front seat in the whole situation.

In this book we get a change on the government of the city. And we see this state change and how capitalism destroys what they are. I don't want to give much away about this book, because I feel that you really need to read it to grasp the whole concept. Many things happen that would leave you shocked. But I can tell you that there's darkness and fantasy in every page.

If you thought the first book was crazy, get ready, because this one is even crazier. The power struggle between the royals and aristocrats of the city is real. We get to see how they try to ruin each other with secrets and gossip. And the princes are not about to allow the city to thrive while their territories are jeopardized by war.

What I liked the most about this book is Galen and how much growth his character has. The author does an amazing job by showcasing his personality. He shows us how Galen is slowly changing and adapting to this new adventure.

Something I didn't enjoy and can be considered what I disliked the most is how the author leaves many unanswered questions. I'm assuming this is because we still have a lot of books in this series, but I'm someone who loves to get answers right away.

I do want to recommend this book for every fiction lover out there but if you're sensitive about violence this book could upset you. Also I don't think this book is suited for teens. As amazing as this book is, I do think it's a lot to handle, every page is very strong and raw. very strong and raw.

All im all I decided to rate this 4 out of 4 stars and trust me I couldn't put my copy down once I started reading this book. The editing is amazing and I couldn't find any mistakes.

But of course there is strong language and strong description of violence and some rated scenes so take that into consideration.

I'm happy I was able to read it and I can't wait to continue reading this series.
