Review by Rabs23 -- We are Voulhire: The Fires of Virko
Galen started practicing how to forge his late uncle's art and was doing well. But he was running out of iron and he was informed by Mayor of Magnum Caelum that the only place he could get iron from was the land of Virko. He and his friends, Rowan and the monk, Demetrius set out for Virko. When the trio arrived Virko, which was also Demetrius' hometown, Demetrius took them to meet his old friend Lord Kayden for help.
Lord Kayden referred them to the Lord of Virko, Lord Venden Hrelek, the father of his old friend, Hans Hrelek also known as Folcro. Lord Venden was bedridden at that time, but still welcomed them well. After hearing their quest, he promised to help them and in return, the monk Demetrius was to help him banish a demon he was worried his son was using. Read the book to know what happens later.
We are Voulhire: The Fires of Virko by Mathew Tysz is the second book among the series of "We Are Voulhire". The setting of the story is "Virko" and it was founded by Lord Hrelek Venden. Virko which was once barren and obscure progressed and became the industrial capital of Voulhire under Lord Venden's supervision.
When I read the first book among the series, "We-are-Voulhire-A-new-Arrival-under-Great-skies", I was intrigued and anxious to read the second. But then I loved the second book more because the story is thrilling and the adventure keeps getting more interesting. I am totally glad I chose to read this series. At first, I wanted to read the series randomly. I totally believed it didn't matter which one came first, but I changed my mind and started reading from the first one, in accordance. I'm glad I took it gradually, it's more understandable.
I observed that character development followed a clear path and was easily digested. This was partly because most of the characters were introduced in the first book. The fact that the writer creatively took note of important aspects like continuity in the second book was intriguing. While reading the book, I noted a few quotes and phrases that caught my attention and could be handy in my life experience. Some of them are, "Life is a celebration"," every moment is an experience", "every experience is a gift" and "Time is an object."
I didn't see anything to dislike about the book, I mean, the story was beautifully written and I loved the character development. I didn't notice any flaws of any sort and I wasn't bored while I read. The book is professionally edited and I'd happily rate it 4 out of 4 stars. The story was well written and there was an improvement in writing, it held a sense of humor and the book was not predictable, the descriptions were wonderful, and hence the rating.
Things to take note of, on the other hand, are that It contains a lot of profanity and vulgar languages hence, it is unsuitable for children. It contains depictions of violence but has no form of eroticism. I'd recommend the book for lovers of mystic and supernatural or magical pieces of stuff. I am looking forward to reading the third book in the series.
