The Essence, Kimberly Derting

The Essence, by Kimberly Derting, is a followup to The Pledge. While not as good as its first book, I enjoyed reading The Essence and it definitely made me intrigued to read the first book. This novel continues the story of Charlie, the multiple language speaking girl of Ludania. I can't really say more than that though for a plot synopsis or else I would spoil the first book. Just go read the first book.
Besides the plot though I enjoyed the world development of the novel and liked to visualize the different geography. I also like the occasional POV changes into Max, Aron, Brook, and the Assasin. It was interesting to see what everyone else was doing without charlie
