After Project Tau and Kalin Taylor, AKA Kata, have escaped GenTech, all Kata wants to do is go back home. He just wants to escape all that he has been through and take his friend Tau with him to live in peace. However, it won’t be that easy. As they attempt to make their way towards ‘home’, they must first face some terrible troubles before they can start their new lives.

When the two reach Kata's home planet Trandellia, Kata learns quick that they are not safe. Kata now possesses many new incredible abilities that he once didn’t have. He later learns that because of all these innovative and extensive modifications, the Trandellian government wants to use him as a super-weapon. They end up threatening to send Tau back to GenTech unless Kata abides by their rules. Of course, Tau doesn’t want to return to GenTech due to all the abuse and violence he went through when being there.

As the story goes on, we learn that there is a line of enemies out there who are hunting these two down. Both continue to run into more and more obstacles with each page turn. I just kept asking myself: “Will they ever be able to be in peace?”, “Is there anyone they can trust?”, “Will they ever be free?” I enjoyed reading Project Tau, of course, but this book, Homecoming was so eventful and had me literally on the edge of my seat. The author, Jude Austin, definitely knows how to keep her audience intrigued.

Another aspect that made this book enjoyable was the fact that Austin involved Tau more versus in the first one. I loved reading how he eventually…I guess…becomes more “human” like. Because he didn’t know of anything other than GenTech, once he ventured outside, he learns that there is a much larger world out there. He reminded me of a child discovering new things.

I’m rating this book a 4 out of 4 because of that reason. This book includes a variety of action and descriptive scenery. I would recommend this book to anyone and everyone who loves a great sci-fi themed book. To anyone who is interested in reading Homecoming, it is highly recommended to read Project Tau (especially since it is the first book) in order to better understand the whole story. This book does contain quite a bit of vulgar words and scenes within the text (torture, violence, etc.); therefore, a mature audience of readers who don’t get easily revolted by this should read. I also didn’t notice any typos or grammatical errors while reading the text.
