Review by Benggirl721 -- We are Voulhire: The Fires of V...
The story started in a flash-forward scene. In this scene, Cornelius and Folcro reunited in Virken Woods unexpectedly.
Voulhire is a country ruled by a king named Wilhelm Alcolo. This king wanted a city under his ruling to be a city of money — Virko.
Virko is a land of emptiness that nobody cares to live. This land was discovered by Venden Hrelek. A wealthy foreigner. When he came to this land, he found an empty building that lay on the Virken plains. He was wondering why such a house was built in an empty land. A mystery gathered in his thought.
Eventually, he bought the house. It was called Rendenhide. He plans to put up businesses here since competition is less. Soon thereafter, Virko became the economic capital of Voulhire. Its progress was countless. Unfortunately, money overpowered faith and belief. Very soon, Voulhirians became greedy for money and power.
After 25 years, Venden Hrelek became the lord of Virko. Under his leadership, he made Virko the most productive city in Voulhire. Time had passed, Lord Venden Hrelek was gravely ill and died because of some mysterious ailments. His son Hans Hrelek took over his place.
Lord Hans Hrelek had a dark secret since he was young. This dark secret loomed to his family, friends, including his dear friend, Lord Kayden Morgan, and this is not a secret to Herr Guiltrude and Lord Dragan, who both helped him with his plan.
With the help of Galen Bray, Rowan, and Demetrius, this dark secret of Lord Hans Hrelek, that made a terror blast to Virko, might find a way to defeat in no soon.
The character of Lord Kayden Morgan is what I liked most. He has a strong personality, despite being surrounded by narrow-minded people, as well as for keeping his faith to notwithstanding the horrific incident of his wife, child, and family friend, Peter Tutoron.
As I recall my reading, I couldn’t think of scenes or even a single scene that did not catch my interest. I figured out. I summed up my thoughts. Finally, an answer popped into my mind. This is a well narrated and captivating story that is why dislike was never thought of because I enjoy reading this book. This is my first review that I have no negative comments about the book and the story.
WE ARE VOULHIRE: The Fires of Virko written by Matthew Tysz can be read for teens and older. It is because the storyline and dialogues were flawlessly narrated which suit their age. Though this is a Science-Fiction story, I will not recommend this to kids because some content on this tale is not suitable for their young minds. If you are a Science-Fiction fanatic, this is highly recommended. You will love the story. This likeness will lead you to the conclusion that reading the preceding and succeeding series of this book indulges your admiration for the story.
Even though I found some profanity and incorrect grammar, there were just a few of them, so I disregard them because first, they were part of the dialogues that make sense. Second, they did not affect the story and my enjoyment of reading.
Although I am a fanatic of the Science-Fiction genre, it took me several days to finish reading this book because I kept on recalling the events and the characters involved in it, even the places. I was figuring them in my thoughts. I guess my mind was mesmerized by how the author jived in each character, event, and place without being one-sided to any of them. Generally speaking, the characters, events, and places were fairly narrated. The best part about this book is that it is well-edited and satisfied with my pleasure of reading. Therefore I will rate this four out of four stars.
