Project Kata has just escaped the imprisonment of GenTech and is now on the run with his friend Project Tau. The human project is determined to get his identity back, as well as free Tau. Both of which are daunting tasks when you have been tortured, mutilated, and are now worth billions of dollars to a powerful corporation. Also doesn’t help when everyone you know is led to believe you are dead. Where can they go? Who can they trust?

Homecoming is Book 2 in the series by Jude Austin. With no good plan after succeeding in the escape, Kata is now challenged with the task of making it back to his home planet without being found by GenTech or the black-market bounty hunters now hot on their trail. Obstacles pop up along the way and both projects are forced to think fast on their feet and take risks on who to trust and who not to. A lot is on the line here. Putting faith in the wrong people could lead to one or both Projects getting dragged back to GenTech to continue their lives as livestock. Worse than livestock even.

Austin did an excellent job of continuing the project series and keeping up the momentum that was started in the first book. I was left wanting more, yet again. The setting descriptions were well described at the proper times, I had a clear picture in my mind as I was reading. I enjoyed how well outlined all the characters were. You were told what they were thinking, as well as what they were saying to each other. More details were given towards the end of the book about the characters’ origins and how it all came about, it was nice to get a better understanding of that finally. In the first book, I was a little confused about how these people ended up on different planets and how that all worked out.

I really did not have any complaints while I was reading this book, it was even better than the first one in my opinion. More details came to light about Kalin’s life and the world they were all living in. There was a bit more profanity in this book, more than I remembered was in the first one. No grammatical errors caught my eye, it appears to have been professionally edited.

I genuinely enjoyed this story and had no complaints or disappointments. It is great that I am left excited about the next book in the series. With that being said, I rate this book a 4 out of 4. I would recommend this book to an adult audience only due to the occasional profanity and sexual content.
