Review by jerrypru -- We are Voulhire: The Knights of Ch...
We are Voulhire: The Knights of Chalethire is the fourth book of the We are Voulhire series by Matthew Tysz. After the destruction of his home because of the attack by Riva Rohavi on Magnum Caelum, Galen and his friends, Demetrius and Rowan, move to Chalethire where Rowan competes in tournaments using his great archery skills, Demetrius is trained by the monks of the Order of Joshua and Galen continues to perfect his skills as a blacksmith. Midius Maido embarks on a journey to seek an ally as the Mianoran Council continues to decrease in number as the Riva Rohavi grow stronger in battle.
Meanwhile back in Yamon Soul, Meldorath continues with his plans. He takes up his role as the new eiodi as he tries to earn the trust of Heius Bartrus, who plays an important role in his plans to take over Caromentis, the magical realm. Back in Chalethire, as Galen and his friends, Demetrius and Rowan, are determined to save Virko from the plague of demons that infest it, they manage to convince the Chalethirian Knights to help save Virko but little do they know what awaits them in the industrial town.
The chapters that focus on the three main characters; Galen, Rowan, and Demetrius are written in the first-person point of view while the rest of the chapters are written from the third person point of view. This book, like all the books in this series, contains a map at the beginning of the book which is great since it helped me visualize what the author was describing. I loved that the book included strong female characters such as Harper Renard, who is the commander of the Chalethirian Knights. I had a great experience reading the book; laughing in some scenes, sympathizing with characters in other scenes.
The theme of ambition is constant throughout the book as each character is ambitious, each with a burning desire for something. The theme of romance is not left behind as Galen develops an interest in the powerful Paladin Harper Renard. While I found the book to be interesting, I must mention that I did find a few errors though none of it obstructed my reading. The book also has quite a number of profane words that may be disturbing to some of the readers. I found nothing that I disliked in the book.
The story was so captivating that I found myself reading it for hours on end without realizing it. Thus I rated the book 4 out of 4 stars. I would recommend the book to lovers of fantasy. However, I would not recommend it to children because of the sexual content in some of the scenes.
