Review by Shridevi_udayakumar -- Awakening by Tayma Tameem
The thrilling adventure and flawless twists make Awakening by Tayma Tameem a must-read book. This book has two different plots appearing on alternate chapters. The parallel stories are brought together at a single point towards the end. This gives its readers ultimate excitement. This book offers a chilling thriller experience.
The plot opens with a girl who wakes up and remembers nothing other than her name which is Katja. She could see a mystical fox but could not remember anything about her past. This plot procedures with Katja being welcomed in a Tavern in the nearby town and she starts working there for her living. Meanwhile, she comes to a situation where she gets to know about her true identity.
A parallel story takes us to the Kingdom of Hale where a King named “Frenar” has two daughters Katja and Amara. Amara is born with supernatural powers. Katja and Amara are sisters with trusted and lovable bond. Amara has issues with controlling her abundant magical power. She loses her nerve over silly things and uses her magical gift to do evil to others. This makes the king and queen worry about their second daughter. However, Katja motivates Amara to become a good person and assures to stand by her beloved sister no matter what happens.
We travel along with Katja and are kept on seat edges with curiosity to know about Katja’s past. The events revealing her past makes us electrified. The characters of Katja and Amara are two different extremes. Yet, they both stay in our hearts. The plot twist at the end is unexpected. I really applaud the author for this convincing twist. This will definitely excite the readers. The language of the book is well-written, and the flow in the plot is really going like a seamless river. Narrating two different stories in a crystal-clear manner is highly appreciable.
This book is suited for all audience irrespective of age. Girls can gain huge courage from the princesses. Katja teaches us to be kind and handle all kinds of situations in life with boldness. Amara’s character teaches us the importance of channelizing our anger and negativity. How Amara, the ice queen, overcame her dark anger guides us to attain good and brighter version of our own self. Anger causes nothing but damage. This book is magical, inspirational, and enjoyable. It also explains about the importance of family bonding. Family members are important and we should have a true affection towards them. Even though siblings fight, they are there for life. I give “4 out of 4 stars” for this book. Everyone, especially fantasy-lovers, must read this book. This book is definitely an unexpected adventurous ride.
