After successfully escaping GenTech, Kalin and Tau search for a safe place to lay low. Kalin needs to prove that he is a human and not a project which is made even more difficult due to the fact that he is supposed to be dead. After that, he will find a way to keep Tau so they can be free and live peacefully. Until then, they need to be careful about who they can trust. Trusting the wrong people could lead to them being recaptured and re-enslaved. There is a large cash prize for whoever returns Kalin and Tau to GenTech. There are also people who want to use Kata and his skills he gained during his years of being imprisoned as a slave in GenTech, including the leaders of his home world in Trandellia.

Kalin makes a deal with a Vasari, one of the Trandellian leaders, to allow him to reclaim his status as a human and let him keep Tau. All he has to do is go to Atthiras, a world without any laws, and find the missing child of an ambassador that others have failed to find. The child has been missing for five years, and Atthiras is a dangerous place. Many well-trained individuals have failed to survive, but Kalin is determined to create a better life for himself and Tau.

Homecoming by Jude Austin is the second book in the Projects Series. It is about two young men facing the aftermath of escaping slavery. There is strong language and some violence. They talk about some of the ways in which they were tortured, including the rape of one of the characters. These things aren’t talked about in great detail, but enough to get the point across.

This was a great sequel to Project Tau. Once again, the author kept me entertained with this fast-paced sci-fi thriller. I may have even enjoyed it more than the first one. There was a lot of action and I liked reading about the development of the different characters. This book gives an even deeper look into the minds of Tau and Kalin, and it provides the reader with a better understanding of who the characters are and what makes them tick.

I am giving this book a rating of 4 out of 4. This is a well-written book, and I was unable to find any mistakes. It was a very entertaining read, and I cant think of anything I didn’t enjoy about it. You don’t necessarily have to read Project Tau first, but I would highly recommend it. This is a great book that I think young adults and sci-fi lovers would enjoy.
