The Maximum Ride series was, and still is, my favorite to read over and over again! With every page of every book, it keeps you on edge and reading quicker just to find out what happens next. The anticipation is a killer. I have personally read this series over 4 times since the last book in the series came out.

I've never been very comfortable with a first person narrative, like you walk into a story, knowing it's one persons opinion. Always feel like I might not be getting the whole story.

It was a great series. I think it kind of got slow with the book Angel but picked back up in the last one.

I really liked the first three books. However, I felt like the series took a downhill turn during the fourth book, THe Final Warning.

I loved- adored, actually, the first three books of this series. I read the first one in junior high, and reading them now as an adult, it's clear that they're written for young readers, but are still very enjoyable. I loved Max's sassy narration and general cynicism. But I feel that even that wasn't enough to save the fourth book and beyond. They didn't fit with the rest of the series. Like cheesy add-ons. They're embarrassing. To be fair, I didn't even read the two most recent installments. My interest has been destroyed by the fifth book, "Max". I don't even remember what happened in that one, it was so disappointing.
So I would definitely recommend the first three books, but don't even bother with the rest. (And that's actually very possible to do because the third book has an ending which was ignored to make way for the fourth.)

I stopped reading those books after MAX. I'm surprised I even managed to get that far because I mostly read the books halfheartedly. I found most of the characters to be annoying and I don't like the way the chapters are only 1-2 pages.

I loved these books so much. I have re-read them and read them in completely the wrong order and still I loved these books! I really like the first three books especially.

I read final warning first. I'm usually quite paranoid about reading books in a series in order, but in this case it worked out. The first few were a touch slow and not as well developed but knowing I had final warning waiting for me got me through them. These books are now some of my favorites in the world.

I wish I could like Patterson's work, but I find it's virtually impossible for an author to write in the first person without the character sounding one of three ways -- egotistical, overly dramatic, or just plain whiny. The only author I've seen manage is it Kevin Hearne, and even his books I think would sound better in 3rd person.

I have to disagree with you about Nevermore. That book was filled with plot holes when it should've been trying to fill in all the plot holes Patterson had made over the previous 7 books. The things he tried to explain ended up making even less sense with an explanation. And the book's ending will always bring a perplexed and frustrated frown to my face. The first three in the series, however, were AWESOME!

I fully agree. This book is spectacular.

The chapters are short , tunt , and filled with action

I agree wholeheartedly. The first three books were amazing! The fourth was okay in terms of writing...but I hated the turn the series took after that. I don't think I read anything after Max either, or maybe I tried Fang. But I was just so mad that I couldn't continue. Patterson should have kept the series under his own control instead of letting his writers have their way with it. Three or four books was definitely enough for me.

This series was one of those where it takes you completely by surprise. I mean who would have thought of writing about teens with wings? I really enjoyed this series some of the books were kind of slow and uneventful, but over all it's a well rounded series
