Virko; the most productive city in Voulhire, one might even say it's the capital of this magnificent land. In trying to solve a problem and get iron from Virko to sustain his business, Galen and his friends soon discover that not all is as it seems in this wonderful city.

The only discipline that the people of Virko observe is industry, but there are those(the likes of Folcro), who seek what lies beyond the physical plane of existence. As a result of this lust, they've resulted to unleashing havoc. Galen and his friends try to stop this coming onslaught, but instead of becoming the city's saviours, they may as well become its downfall.

We are Voulhire: The Fires of Virko by Mathew Tysz is a sci-fi fantasy novel based on a world where magic exists. But evil and wickedness being a part of humanity's nature, have corrupted this gift, and so, many in search of more power have unleashed havoc on the world.

This is one of the best book that I've read in 2020. With all these covid-19 rules and this lockdown, I needed a distraction, and I'm glad to say that We are Voulhire was a great escape for me. I absolutely loved it; it was a wonderful and a pleasant read.

I loved the author's portrayal of the characters; their nature, interests and dislikes were not far fetched. They were so realistic that they could exist in the real world. I also loved how the author used a few characters, this way I felt that no one was overshadowed.

As the second book of the series, I'm glad to say that it did not disappoint. The storyline was also not hard to follow, a fact which I commend since one did not have to read the first book in order to understand this one. But this fact may as well be a double edged sword; I saw little connection between the first book and the second one, the author did not continue on the matters I had expected him to, to me, it was as if the author had introduced a new concept.

Nonetheless, it was still a great book, and so I give it a 4 out 4 stars. The editing was perfect, the plot was amazing and the twists and mysteries had me completely immersed in the book. I think this novel is better suited for those who enjoy magical fantasy novels I would say for teenagers and young adults.
