We Are Voulhire: The Fires of Virko is the second book in the We Are Voulhire series by Matthew Tsyz. The story kicks off with King Wilhelm Arcolo’s decision to take the city of Virko and make it fall under his leadership. You see, Virko was built and founded by Lord Venden Hrelek. For many years Venden Hrelek ruled the city as its sovereign Lord. King Wilhelm’s decision does not sit well with particular citizens of Virko who are willing to take drastic actions to ensure that his plans don’t succeed.

The mayor of Magnum Caelum informs Galen Bray that he will have to go to Virko to ask for assistance with obtaining iron since Magnum Caelum lacks iron reserves. Galen and his friends set out for Virko. They are given a different mission by Lord Venden. This mission proves to be more dangerous and difficult to handle than they initially thought.

One of the things I liked about this book is how easy it was to get into the story. The Fires of Virko picks up right where the first book ended. The author explained things in such great detail I could practically picture everything. I like the fact that the book has a map of Voulhire for readers to reference.

I also like how suspenseful the story is, especially towards the end. The author slowly built up the suspense and created a sequence of events that will keep readers entertained. There was also significant character development for both new and old characters. I feel like this made connecting with characters so much easier.

I love the originality of the story. There is nothing predictable about anything in this story. The ending was so dark and twisted it shocked me. I honestly loved everything about this book, and I have no negative critique to give.

In summary, I am going to be rating We Are Voulhire: The Fires of Virko 4 out of 4 stars. The book is exceptionally written. The plot of the story is gripping and exciting. I am sure many readers will love it. The Fires of Virko is also well-edited. I did not come across any errors while reading.

Honestly, I have nothing but praise for this book. I absolutely cannot recommend this book enough to fans of the science fiction genre. Given the dark undertones to this book, I would say it would be more suitable for a mature audience. The way things ended in this book made me very interested in reading the next book. I am very interested in reading to find out what the future holds for Voulhire in general.

Another four star review. The author's shifting perspectives has confused me in the past. I don't think this is for me. I appreciate your review, though.

I agree that this series is full of surprises. Tysz sure is talented in misleading the readers with his twists.
