Omicron Six by Endy Wright takes you through the seemingly boring and quiet life of Cooper Callister and the troubled life of Coupe Daschelete. Each is aware of the other but a bully brings them closer together, revealing talents they only dare expose to each other. The bond that they create with each other isn't something lightly given. Enjoy as they discover unknown talents and hidden secrets about their pasts and unseen future.

I am rating this book as a 4 out of 4! It is well edited, well thought out and is such a page turner. As the reader you really empathize with the protagonists, Cooper and Coupe. What I liked the most was the relationship between the boys. Their relationship isn't perfect but it is solid. You feel yourself being transported back to being a young adult and navigating middle and high school, especially if you happen to be an outsider. They seem like normal teens but they have a very apparent effect on one another that starts the journey into this science fiction tale. You feel very strongly connected to all the other characters you encounter from the perspective of Cooper and Coupe, like parental figures and antagonists.

What I liked least were the instances of animal cruelty that caught me unprepared. There are also acts of sexual and physical abuse that unfortunately shaped one of the characters into who they are. There is also a sequel to this book so it may feel like there is a lot of exposition. It is all important.

Readers that would appreciate this book would be ones that like sci-fi, mystery and the testing the limits of the human experience. If you like to explore the facets of psychology this will also be interesting. This book makes you question the ethical limits of what humans can accomplish. It also brings up the question of where do we draw the line when it comes to improving ourselves and the human race as a whole.

The readers that would not like this book are ones that have an objection to science based experiments and changing theories on evolution. There is also abuse and animal cruelty as previously mentioned.

The only error that I caught was on pg 2801 “others would have likely foundred” should be corrected to floundered but this did not distract from the pace of reading and was easy to put from my mind.
