This book starts in the magical era of gentry and mages. The working class work hard and wear rough woven clothes, and much of the time live hand to mouth. The gentry, on the other hand, live a privileged life and wear rich and sumptuous robes. Food is no worry for these people as money can buy whatever is needed. It is CE; 180, King Wilhelm has appointed a new lord for Hillport. Lord Eldus is happy to take on the poorer southern town. He wants to make Hillport a great town as well as making it equal to the capital. However, it's two predecessors has left Hillport castle under a black cloud. Both of them did despicable acts, and so the people of the town don't trust the gentry. Eldus has his work cut out to regain public trust, which it seems he is winning – around.

At the same time, an old man is dying and invests much of his savings in an executor, to find an heir from his estranged family, to inherit his property and business The Executor, Rowen is successful in his endevors and sends for the new heir, he lives in the land of the princes.
Galen boards a ship and is very excited as to what his adventure will bring. He meets many characters on the ship, all passengers bound for different shores. When he steps onto dry land, the lord mayor and harbor master await him. The lord mayor escorts him through the town to a large property his uncle has left him. He soon realizes his future career lay in blacksmithing. Galen will have to teach himself quickly can he do it?

On an island, a short distance from Hillport a man is being held, prisoner. He is a Mage and is so evil the Royal Guard has thirty-two ships pointing at his dwelling. Will the mage come out fighting or will he stay in the house, where he is being held captive. We are Voulhire;  A New Arrival Under Great Skies by Matthew Tysz takes you to a different dimension.

This is a great story and will keep you on the edge of your seat, because this is set in another time and place, some of the names of places and people are a bit strange there is a reference guide, to help you understand the story.

I have given this book 4 out of 4 stars, as I didn't find mistakes. This story flowed well. As well as being interesting. The only thing I found a bit disappointing is that it finished rather suddenly. It may have been better if at least Galens story went a little bit longer with the Imbuer. Maybe then it wouldn't have felt so abrupt. This is a great one for all the people who love their fantasy novels.
