We are Voulhire: A New Arrival under Great Skies, is a fantasy book authored by Mathew Tysz. It’s a story of adventure, mystery, and discoveries. Its setting is drawn from the medieval period. The story centers on thematic issues of change, culture, and leadership. There is a lot to relate to from the story.

The story starts with a climax, tension builds up in the kingdom where the magistrate invades the territories of lord Orlin and slain several guards. There is an element of witchcraft, seen during the reactions of the magistrate and his unique invasion. The magistrate is after lord Orlins and informs him, “bedroom acts upon children,” whatever it’s supposed to mean, he will pay for it.

The story takes another twist, and we are introduced to Gallen, a young fellow whose life is in danger. He is on a voyage to Voulhire to inherit his uncle’s wealth. An uncle he has never seen, but the turn of events will educate him a lot about him. He believes that the hardships he goes through harden him for a better life. Much of the story narrated from his experience.

What fascinates me about this novel is; the setting of the story, the characters, the language used, and the humor content. The narration is vivid illustrious. I was able to imagine all the scenes. The book is so engaging and seamlessly told. The plot is well developed. The book has embraced the culture and captured both the social-economic life aspect, in a manner that is applaudable. What I liked least was the bloodshed, not extremely violent but the author, Mathew Tysz does well at keeping the graphic of the book to its height.

My ribs broke loose reading about a peculiar scene, that stirred the courtroom with nervous laughter. During a court proceeding, a lady judge asks the defendant; an old man how stupid she was! The judge felt stupid for talking to the accused who kept silent but later proceeded with making fun of her. The judge falls from her chair and the guy keys in his voice, “Young one, how does it feel when your own body turns against you? Her husband comes in and shouts that her wife was having a heart attack. The old dude again speaks, says the lady was having her first real orgasm since marriage!

This book is exceptionally edited and I didn’t find any errors. For this reason, I rate it 4 out of 4 stars. The language used is colorful and easy to interpret. The book has a lot to emulate and would be pleasing to lovers of fantasy books.
