I agree with you comparing this story to the works of J.R.R. Tolkien. When I read the summary you gave, I was instantly reminded of The Lord of the Rings. While I like this author's creativity, the unusual names of the characters and places might take some getting used to.

I can feel your enthusiasm from this informative review. It appears to be a great read and thank you for the warning about graphic violence. That just turned me away but I'm sure I'll find another intriguing book anyway. Thank you for such an excellent review.
