Review by readsbyarun -- Fish Wielder
Fish Wielder by J.R.R.R. Hardison is a brilliantly compiled fantasy novel that is full of adventure. The story is based in the fictional world of Grome which has been beautifully described by the author. The story is about the adventures of Throal Mighty Fist who is a legendary hero and having a mystical past. Thoral embarks on an adventure along with his companion and his trusted sidekick Bradfast. Bradfast is a talking fish who is always there for a piece of wise advice to Thoral.
I loved the way the author has blended the fantasy along with the humour. I commend the amount of research work that has been done to write such a magical and engaging tale that grabs the reader’s attention from the beginning. I loved the author’s citation on the title page which mentions “This is a work of fiction.” This made me realize the book is going to be full of humour at the same time. I also loved the way the author had defined the mystical and magical world. The locations are defined so well that I could imagine the events happening right in front of my eyes. I truly enjoyed each chapter and the way the actions between various characters are explained in this book.
There is nothing I disliked about this book. The story and the characters are perfectly defined by the author. The characters grow along with the story, and it makes the reading very interesting with every turn of the page. Each of the characters is unique, and I especially loved the character of Brad, Thoral’s sidekick. The dialogues are well-written, and the language is simple to read.
The chapters are structured very effectively. The entire book can be read in a steady phase. The book seems to be professionally edited, and I did not notice any major spelling or grammar errors. The book does not contain any profane languages, and it is suitable for young adults as well. The book seems to be explicitly well written, and I would honestly rate this book with 4 out of 4 stars.
I would recommend this book to anyone who is a fan of fantasy novels and those who are interested to read a comedy novel. The book contains many twists and turns and makes the reader stay on the edge till the end. I am very much eager to read the next book in the series.
