Have you ever read a book so engaging, you can't tell a protagonist from an antagonist?WE ARE VOULHIRE: A New Arrival Under Great Skies by Matthew Tysz is that book. The first book in the We Are Voulhire series. The book told about a great and feared mage imprisoned by the king of Voulhire and the adventures of a young man who left the Land of the Princes to seek a better life in Voulhire.
Hilport, one of the poorest towns in Voulhire has suffered in the hands of two Lords. The first, Lord Orlin was overthrown by the second,Lord Meldorath. He was a feared and powerful mage who did unspeakable things to the town. Eventually, he was arrested by the king. So powerful was he that he was kept in a well-guarded castle by marines and mages. The king, then told everyone that he was dead. Will the powerful mage remain imprisoned for long? Grab a copy of this book to find out.
I found this book interesting. It depicted a high level of creativity on the part of the writer. The suspense was so thrilling. While you read, you can't stop you just have to know what happened next. The descriptions of the scenes in the book created vivid imaginations in my mind. It felt like I was watching a movie. I couldn't help but admire the character Lord Meldorath. I was inpressed by the extent of his power and how he wielded it.
I found nothing wrong in the book. It was well-written. One of the characters I liked was Lord Eldus the third Lord of Hilport, appointed by King Wilhem the king of Voulhire. I liked how he and his family were devoted to making Hilport a prosperous town. They all were united to that goal. They were sincere people who cared for the well-being of the town. I also liked Galen Bray from the Land of the Princes a place where people fought to survive, were insecure, and war was rampant. He left there for Voulhire. In Voulhire, I liked his determination in continuing his uncle's craft as a blacksmith, his adventures with Rowan his uncle's financial executioner who became his friend as they went about in search of the perfect metal for him to work on.
I found no error in the book. It was exceptionally edited. The author's style of writing was engaging, the storyline was well-paced. I hereby rate it 4 out of 4 stars. I recommend this book for thrillers and fantasy lovers.
