We are Voulhire: A new arrival under Great skies by Matthew Tysz is the very first book of the nine-book series, We are Voulhire. It is based on sci-fi and fantasy. Just as the title itself suggests; 'A new arrival under Great skies' , the book starts with the arrival of Galen Bray in Voulhire.

Galen, our protagonist, is a simple man living in an oppressive country. After living there for about 20 years, Galen is fortunate enough to somehow escape the land of the princes. He was finally free but little did he knew there were plenty of adventures awaiting him. Reaching Magnum Caelum, a small town in Voulhire, he plans to continue his uncle's business while getting to know this beautiful country all with the help of his executor, Rowan. On the other hand, the king of Voulhire, Wilhelm Arcolo is a kind, pragmatic and a beloved emperor. But was it all he was? What kind of untold secrets were hidden under his smiling face? The small city of Hillport, suffered under the reign of previous two cruel and vile lords. As much as it pains the people of Hillport, they need a new lord to run the city. Eldus Alderman, a trustworthy friend of the king is sent to handle the lordship. Will he be able to serve his true purpose without any hurdles?

All the stories from different perspectives going on side by side, while being connected to one another in some way is what makes the storyline highly interesting. I really liked the way each chapter started with headings which made it easier to know whose perspective we are reading about. Loved the descriptive approach of the author, whether it's the characters' personalities, their appearance or the surroundings. Everything being explained so well helped forming an image in our minds.

The dialogues gave a better understanding of all characters' personalities. The map at the beginning and the reference guide at the end are very significant. The map makes the story seem even more real, like yeah it's happening somewhere. I enjoyed the humorous character of Rowan. The story hinted towards one LGBT character and I truly appreciate the author for adding in some diversity.

There was nothing to be disliked about the book. There were no grammatical errors or spelling mistakes. The book seems to be exceptionally well edited.

We are Voulhire series is suitable for readers who like ancient tales about kings and kingdoms, those who like magic and the ones who are into thrillers too. I would recommend it for adults as there is use of some borderline profanities and mention of erotic acts. There is minimal religious concept but it does not harm anyone's sentiments. In the end, I would like to rate the book with 4 out of 4 stars for its great storyline, presentation and editing.
