We are Voulhire: A new Arrival under Great Skies by Matthew Tysz, is the first edition in the We are Voulhire series. An illustrative and mesmerizing plot along with befitting characters set the stage for a legendary fantasy novel.

The story starts in the kingdom of Voulhire with the accession of General Meldorath, a powerful mage as the Lord of Hillport. Then we have Galen Bray; who seizes the chance to escape the battle-weary Land of the Princes to travel to a small city in Voulhire named Magnum Caelum where a forge left by his deceased grand uncle, is awaiting him. The dethroning and execution of Lord Meldorath is decreed by King Willhelm of Voulhire, where the people desparately wants to believe that Meldorath is dead. The story revolves around Galen Bray who navigates through his new life as an owner of the forge along with his executor Rowan.

I noticed that each chapter in the story is named after the character around whom it evolves. However the chapters titled after Galen Bray is from his perspective, in contrast with other chapters where it is in a third person viewpoint which subtly conveys to the reader that Galen Bray is the hero of this series. The story builds up to a splendid ending while keeping you on tender hooks throughout the plot. There is a glossary at the end of the book for the special Voulhirian words that are mentioned in the story.

The author does specify at the beginning of the story that the plot will develop systematically, but still some may find the book fleeting as they may have been expecting for a more descriptive one.

I am elated to rate this book a 4 out of 4 stars as it is professionally edited with a captivating storyline and is an amalgamation of fantasy, science as well as spiritual angles.

I recommend this story to all the passionate readers who enjoy a good fantasy series although it may be inappropriate to the younger audience as there is some profanity and vulgar comments in the story.
