We are Voulhire: The Fires of Virko by Matthew Tysz is a fictional fantasy novel. This book is the second book in the We are Voulhire book series. Virko is the heart of Voulhirian industry and the story revolves mainly around its politics, secrets and past friendship. The lord of Virko is sick and wishes for the monk Demetrius and his employer Galen Bray to do a job for him. The book like the previous is divided into many chapters with the chapters being the story from the character's point of view. Galen Bray is the only character who tells his story himself. Meldorath is not in jail anymore but deep down still feels like he is in a prison. He has annexed Hillport and is the new lord of town. The book introduces many interesting and new characters in the story whose stories are interesting as well.

The positive aspects of the book are- the story's pacing is really how it should be unlike the previous which had poor pacing. The book is action packed and we get vivid description of fight scenes and other action scenes. The writing is quite simple for someone new to reading books to understand. The writing despite being simple is quite engaging and beautiful. Dance and music scenes are impeccably described. Demetrius, who is one of the characters had a pretty good character development and the book ands on a cliffhanger that doesn't frustrate you but only urges you to pick up the third book in the series. The book is quite good as a stand alone and as a continuing book of a series.

The negative aspects of the book are- The book doesn't answer many questions which the reader has in mind when he finishes the the previous book. The book despite of having a medieval setup has modern technology like vehicles running on steam and Mics that amplify your voice. Like the previous book, the book mentions a modern sport like golf and doesn't explain its origins.

The book is really good and I would recommend it to anyone who likes and is into fictional fantasies and thrillers.

There were no grammatical mistakes that I could trace in the book. The book does have profanity, vulgar words and double meaning jokes at places.

I am giving this book a 4/4 rating because I truly think it deserves it and that it has no grammatical mistakes.
