Review of We are Voulhire: A New Arrival under Great Skies
The book We are Voulhire: A New Arrival under Great Skies by Matthew Tysz, is about the destiny of the Kingdom of Voulhire. At the peak of its wealth and power, the nation is about to be attacked from inside. The enemies that were banished and forgotten have returned. The outcasts of Voulhire have been building a secret army that will dethrone the king and spread fear into the nation. Riva Rohavi is the rebels who will stop at nothing to destroy Voulhire. Just across the shores awaits the most powerful dark wizard Meldorath, who was banished and many believed to be dead.
The reader will start from the eyes of a refugee Galen, who escapes war and poverty from the Land of the Princes. The Land of the Princes is torn by a never-ending conflict. He is saved from the misery and hell by his uncle inheritance, to pass down his black smite workshop in the town of Magnum Caelum. We see the struggle of adapting to a life of an unknown kingdom and becoming a black smite. Galen's view is not the only one we get to see as the book alternates through a black smite, a wizard, a rebel leader, a knight, a lord and King Wilhelm. Who all fight for survival and for the future of the large and beautiful kingdom of Voulhire.
I was hooked on this book from day one, it has a really fast pace and switches between multiple storylines for suspense and dramatic effect. I imagined I was watching a tv show with every chapter directing my attention to a different part of the Kingdom and level of society. The constant action and story direction will make you want to binge read this book the way you would watch your favorite tv show.
With the rapid changing of scenes and characters the book is a little confusing at the beginning, where the reader can get lost between all the character's story progression. It takes a few chapters to fully understand the complexity that the events are leading to. This books is full of plot twists and surprises.
The book was well written and well-edited. I did not find any spelling or grammatical mistakes. As a result, I would rate this book 4 out of 4 stars. It was an excellent read and an amazing work of fiction.
I would recommend this book to any fictions lovers over the age of 18 because of the mention of killing and pedophilia.
